Had some great Mod/scooterist nights in smallish Midland towns. Polesworth is a particular favourite with the B500 scooter club.

cant beat a scooterist night, bit of mod, northern, motown, punk, ska, lol

was a great scooter scene in brum a few years ago, 300 plus riding to startford in the sun, choking on two stroke lol

They still do Stratford every year with a lot more than 300 last time I went. Even Billy Bragg was on that one.

i havent done stratford for about 3 years, ure right probably more like 500 lol, it used to be carnage around by the river trying to park lol

have you got a scoot yourself percy?

No mate. The clothes and the soul have always been my priorities.

you got to keep on keeping on!
Met up with various Scooter Clubs in Atherstone today and had a cracking day. Came home to watch the match on telly and f*cked my evening up. Just glad my Lambretta never lets me down.
Met a few scooterists at a Northern Soul do in Malvern last night...a bit mad and great company!

Used to live very close to Polesworth/Atherstone and work in Nuneaton.
Loved the area (Warwickshire innit? I'm a Warwickshire mon)...except for Nuneaton!

There never used to be any blosers in treacle town 20-30 years ago. A handful (5 or 6) albion, but no blues. Distinctly remember visiting my mum and dad around 2003/4 and seeing a shirt wearing nose in tk maxx in town. First one I'd seen there. Plenty of cov rats always has been, but had never seen any noses prior to that.

Is that an auto correct? If not, why 'treacle town'?
it's what the people from bedrock charitably call us. The origins are a bit hazy, but something to do with the traffic, if I'm not mistaken.

No, it's because you're thick and slow.
cheers Lee.

Nuneaton, fight town.
Absolutely horrid little place.
it always used to be, that's for sure. I don't know what it's like these days. Probably 10 years or so, since I went out in town though. The problem was there was always too many people for how many pubs there was and everyone used to trek from pub to pub like a herd of sheep. So you'd have 2 or 3 pubs absolutely rammed and everywhere else would be empty. Then everyone would be leathered and all trying to get in the one night club. I used to be a glass collecter when I was 16/17 and the amount of really quite nasty fights that would start over nothing more than a spilt drink was mad. Every fri/ sat there'd be serious incidents. It's funny when I moved to London it took me about 6mths to be able to relax in a pub, without keep having to look over your shoulder.

I really hope the online map is playing up and displaying incorrectly because there are loads of tickets left in every stand, could be an embarrassing attendance.

It's limited tickets left in the holte and the lower north almost gone. Stands to reason as they're cheapest. Once they've gone, the rest of the ground will fill out when it goes to varied booking history on Wednesday. I don't think it'll be a sell out by any means, but reckon it'll be about 35,000. Remember it is a fixture on Sky and has the potential for trouble. My old man for instance, can't be bothered. It's not because he's 'running scared', it's because he's pushing 70, can watch from the comfort of his own home and doesn't really want to walk home past a load of slack jawed degenerates, who can't hold a couple of weak lagers.

I haven't heard that version.

We mutter it in the Trinity, largely to ourselves.

Sorry treacle!

(Sorry for that as well)

Actually I should qualify my earlier post re: treacle town. Our kid's been out there since the early 90's, my nephews and sister-in-law are born and bred, so I'm aware of the local 'rivalry'.

I wasn't implying you personally are thick and slow, it's just to explain the reason it's known as treacle town.
