Well we scored from a corner which has been certainly lacking for years. It's another trick up the sleeve to have, especially in games when an opposing team is doing its best to close the game out.
With Rudy, Richards and Kozak if playing we'll have great presence in the box.

It was a cracking goal from Rudy, there was no stopping him getting his head on that ball.

Shame Gueye didn't score right at the start of second half, didn't realise until I watched the highlights what a good build up that was.

Did anyone see the fan go arse over tit during the Gestede goal celebrations?

 ;D ;D ;D

There was also a pissed up bloke who kept trying to wander onto the pitch in the first half. I thought the stewards dealt with it very well. They just eased him back into the stands

We took a while to settle into the game but were much better in the second half and I think deserved the 3 points.

Richards and Clark look good together and with Okore we have a nice selection headache when all 3 are fit.

Geestede great header but i loved the fact he won all his aerial battles but one. Early days but we could have a Carew esque hero on our hands.

Out of the three Jordans i think Amavi was the best, he really could turn into a world class left back. The other two looked off the pace but that is to be expected.

Gana Gueye whatever his name is! I really like him already it could quite possibly be Fabian who? Very shortly.

Veretout runs a bit like Zidane. Kind of awkward, almost laboured, but strong and willing.

I loved the shot showing Gestede getting the winning header, with the fact Richards was arriving like a train behind him and would have taken all before him into the net I reckon.

Not a great first 45 mins but that was down to their tempo and enthusiasm more then anything we did. Overall, Bournemouth were all fart and no shit and it was a professional second half by ourselves.

Two  players for me to keep an eye on: We will have to patient with young Jordan Ayew.  Give him time, let him bag his first goal and watch him become a player.  He strikes me as an emotional sort of character who needs an arm around him.

The other player is Veretout,  I genuinely think this lad is a class act.  I kept my eye on him yesterday and, although clearly not yet up to full match fitness, you could see he has that presence about him that quality players have.  Totally unruffable, great positioning, touch and presence.  Once he gets up to match speed and fitness he will be huge for us, I am sure of it.

Actually, I'm going to mention one more player who I though was brilliant for us yesterday - Gabby.  He's the glue in this club.  Watch how he celebrated with Gestede and the others yesterday and you can see how crucial he is to have around the team helping the new players come in, settle and bond with the rest of the lads.   He also put in a shift and a half.

Promising stuff, well done Villa.

Should have scored, and credit Gabby for his assist

Some nice touches from Ayew in that build-up. I only watched the Match of the Day highlights, after having read the mildly negative reviews on here, but he looked good in that little passage of play.

He was never bad he just didn't really get into the game.

The words Gabby and crucial do not go together.....in any way!

Howe - “It’s a textbook, lower league goal"

It was good enough to beat you.  Eddie.

It was a corner the bell end. He might be new to this top flight lark but he's going to find out a lot of teams try to score from corners and they're not something that only exists in the second division.

I'm not sure it's really worth getting upset about. He was just saying that his team should've dealt with it better, which they should, not insulting Villa.

Interesting points Billy Walker.

Joey Barton on 5 Live was saying Ayew was a youth player at Marseille when he was there. He reckons he will do well and is a good finisher but was surprised he seemed to be playing on the right of a 5 man midfield. Reckons he is best in the middle, and said he will definitely score goals in England.

Re Veretout, I was chatting to a French mate on Friday night. He thinks Veretout will take a while to adapt to the pace of football here, and said he generally played well in the first half of the season at Nantes but struggled after the mid season break.
