Name your best Villa starting XI where each player has to be from a different decade...

From my five decades (70's to date) I can pick a few but would rely on players I've never seen to fill the rest of the team:

Rimmer (80's)
Gidman (70's)
McGrath (90's)
Mellberg (00's)
Aitken (60's)
Devey (1890's)
Blanchflower (50's)
Eric Houghton (40's)
Benteke (10's)
Waring (30's)
Jimmy Crabtree (1900's)

Some of the players from a century or more ago are probably being played out of position, I only know their names from our history and not too much about them.

You teachers have got too much time on your hands!

This is actually quite difficult to do!
Yes, I know its cheating but I did two teams.
Right then, old style 2-3-5 with a front line with over 1000 Villa goals between them.
GK Spink 1980’s
FB Cummings 1940’s
FB Aitken 1960’s
HB Blanchflower 1950’s
CH Cowan 1880’s
HB Rioch 1970’s
OR Houghton 1930’s
IR Devey 1890’s
CF Hampton 1910’s
IL Walker 1920’s
OL Bache 1900’s

Or a more traditional looking 4-4-2

GK Hardy 1910’s
RB Spencer 1900’s
LB Crabtree 1890’s
CB McGrath 1990’s
CB Dugdale 1950’s
RW Dixon 1940’s
CM Cowans 1980’s
CM Barry 2000’s
LW McParland 1960’s
CF Waring 1930’s
CF Little 1970’s
