Hassan Kachloul
«

Hello there.
I'm writing an article about Hassan Kachloul (it's a kind of Where Are They Now? thing) and I want to get fans' memories about him as a player. Any memories/stories you have - good or bad - please post them here. Doesn't even have to be a story/memory as such, could just be your general view on his time at Villa. I'd want to use some of the your quotes for the article, which will appear on the Yahoo Football website next month. So if you don't want your comments to be used then let me know, and they won't be.
I'll be posting a similar message on a Southampton forum and I expect their feedback to be more positive than yours, to be fair!
I should point out I'm not a Villa fan, I'm actually a Hammer. Feel free to abuse me for this!
Cheers,
Kevin
(ps David Cameron is all yours)

Came at a time when we were good enough to take players that other top flight teams wanted to keep. Wish we hadn't. He contributed very little.

It was a kind of a "where was he then?" situation with Hassan.
Good goal at Leeds though.

All I remember from him was a good assist to Vassell in the first home game against Man. United.
I was quite happy when we sign him and Hadji as both were solid premier league players (Hadji was excellent at Coventry, didn't understand why he didn't do more here) but both did fcuk all here and it took ages to get rid of them.
Summer 2001 was a bit of a lost one really, Schemichel, Mellberg and Balaban also came in and I was pretty optimistic for that season but in the end only Mellberg was worth the money.

Yeah, sorry don't remember much about him, got the impression he would be a good signing at the time, but he did next to nothing sadly.

He definitely had a bit of flair and we saw it in flashes in autumn 2001 but for whatever reason he petered out.
Most interesting thing to learn about him through this forum (unless I'm imagining this) is that erstwhile poster The Weatherman (Paul) once sold Hassan a piano.

He used to live in the Mailbox, and would occasionally see him when I was either going to or leaving work.
His actual playing time with us, I don't recall.

Decent goal at Leeds, tap in vs Charlton. Hadji was better player. Started that season well but not strong enough squad to do it consistently. Terrible home shirt

I think John Gregory left the February/March after we'd signed him.
Then when Graham Taylor took over he pretty much froze him and Hadji out.
I seem to remember that he played well in a game away against Southampton.

Took the kids up to Bodymoor Heath , while all the players Mellberg , Laurson etc posed for photos with the window down in their big 4 by 4 Jeeps, Porsches Kachloul jumped out of a tiny green car and held a woman's baby who there and talked to her for a good 20 minutes whilst entertaining the baby.

He over-hit every corner he ever took which was quite infuriating. Or was that Hadji?
Anyway hope that helps.

Kachloul & Hadji were odd signings.
We changed that season from a back 5 to 4-4-2 with these two playing wide. Neither did much of note.
As soon as Gregory resigned, Taylor put Barry on the left hand side and Kachoul never got a look in after that.
Only the occasional appearance when Barry dropped to left back.
He made a couple of appearances in following pre-season games.
In his last season again just a few appearances in pre-season under O’Leary.
He was here for 3 seasons and played under 3 different mangers. Only 1 rated him.
The only thing of note was that he was one of the first ‘Bosman’ signing we made.
Didn’t he make a stink up in Scotland? Something about his registration?

I vaguely recall he had agreed to join somebody else (Ipswich?) and then changed his mind and joined us. The git!
