Several first teamers are set for action tonight as Villa U21s face Derby U21s.

The likes of Libor Kozak, Adama Traore, Jack Grealish, Tiago Ilori and Mark Bunn are due to be involved for the 7pm kick-off at Villa Park

I always wondered why more use wasn't made of the U21s to trial fringe first team players. Their selection suggests these players are in the mix and they have an opportunity to prove they should be first team players and to work on advice given in training. I hope they all play well.

I have more of a concern with them naming it U21 but then having all the clauses to let 'overs' play to gain fitness.  Why not just call it reserves and then have rules around who can be included in the matchday squads, just seems a totally inappropriate name.

I said it last week but Traore is very frustrating. He plays like a kid, greedy and never gets his head up.  Has all the ability in the world but he's a long way from the finished article

We don't need the finished article, we need someone who can scare the shit out of a back 4, create chances and keep the fullback honest (i.e. not playing like a winger).  For all his flaws he offers much more than Sinclair right now and should be given a chance for a couple of games from the start. I'd give Kozak a run as well because if the ball is going across the 6yd box we don't have another striker who will gamble on getting on the end of it.

The line-ups are in for tonight’s FA Youth Cup third round clash against Everton at Goodison Park.

Good news for Villa – Andre Green has passed a late fitness test, while Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, Callum O’Hare, Corey Taylor and Easah Suliman are all involved.

The match kicks off at 7pm and a fourth round trip to Accrington or Crystal Palace awaits the winner.
