In all fairness I am on Micah side here. This all but confirms there was clear interest from West Ham so he should have just been let go. Poor business again from villa.

100%.  Its no wonder we nearly went bust with jokers like Wyness in the board room

That’s why as much as much as I’m no fan of Richards I’m also not going to ever blame him for wanting every penny of his contract. We offered it, he signed it. We had a chance to move him on and get out of the deal and we decided to keep him. Not saying it’s all Wyness or all Xia, or as is likely some part both of them, but whatever it was it was just a fucking mess.

All involved would have been well advised to keep their mouths shut.

Richards has been trying to get the Villa episode off his back to bolster his image as the ex player integrity pundit.
Wyness has already disputed his story and I don think it will end there. He might be well advised to not take up the past.

I’m just so glad that neither Richards or Wyness are nothing to do with us any more. They can dig themselves further into the mud while we are well shot of them.

This. We were an all round circus with frauds like them in our employ.

Wyness come across like an imbecile, miles out of his depth. He wanted a nominal fee from West Ham but this joker ended up costing us about 3.6m
(35k per week?) for another two seasons in his cheerleading role. Penny rich pound poor comes to mind.

Wyness was a dreadful chief executive and Richards is one of the worst players to have ever played for the club.

It’s not the seeing out the contract part that i have an issue with. It was putting in crap, ill-disciplined performances and being a twat, rather than a leader, when it was all going to shit.

I said that directly to Wyness on Twitter. We had a player who we got on a free transfer, who was costing us £60K a week but couldn't play because of his knees. He had the chance to go to West Ham, thus getting rid of a £3m per year burden on the wage bill, but we wouldn't let him go because West Ham wouldn't give us a nominal fee? Well, that showed them who was boss! No wonder that whole time was such an utter mess, with a chancer for an owner and a cretin for a CEO.

It's a measure of the two of them that they think it's perfectly normal to discuss the affairs of Aston Villa and all it's dirty washing in the public domain.  They have proved themselves to be totally unfit for purpose for the postitions they held.  Good riddance to the pair of them.

Interesting how Richards is saying "Villa knew my knee wouldn't do 2 games a week in the Champ".

My recollection is he didn't even do one game a week. Saw him come on in preseason at Shrewsbury and he was fatter than me. And I'm a fat bastard.

Amazing how people try to rewrite history.

I recall two of his games for us at that time. There was a cup game v Luton was it under RDM? Also Steve Bruce's first game at home v Wolves. To say he was dreadful would be an understatement. Pub level and then some.
