Positives from the Cup Final

Spilling beer  down a person's front at the bar in the Green Man and us both just laughing about it.
Also , talking to another chap at the said bar and him taking a photo out of his pocket of his recently deceased brother.How he would have been there, and us both wishing the Villa would come through for him.

If it was purely a knock out tournament then fine.  But It isn't.  We can barely keep a starting 11 fit for the first team as it is without the possibility of another potential 20 games on top of that.  We're just not ready for it in the current set up.  Get the domestic bit sorted then look to push on.

well we're not in next season so the question becomes would we be ready for it in 2016/2017 or more realistically 2017/2018?

yep exactly, so it will take Sherwood or whoever is manager at least a 3 to 4 windows to build the side and bring through players. We have enough on our plate to be worrying about Europe but it would be great to at least get into it by the end of next season. A tall order I grant you. Even if we are somewhat unprepared (squad size/depth-wise) it's great exposure and experience, and also makes the club more attractive to new players.

Friday night was brilliant.
Saturday afternoon was brilliant.
Something happened Saturday evening but I've wiped it from memory.
Saturday night was brilliant.

Basically all that was brilliant had something to do with people from this site, damn you Villa for trying to spoil my weekend (again)!

Realistically 2017/18 I'd say .

I take comfort from the fact that more Villa fans were at the quarters and the semi, and hope that the kids especially remember those days long after they've forgotten about yesterday.

I think he means total of Villa fans at quarter plus semi final > number of villa fans at the debacle yesterday.

Yes, I was thinking along the lines of us having about 32k in VP versus West Brom, about the same ticket allocation for the semi, but only 25,800 allocated for the Final.

Positives.
Stayed in Harrow - really nice place, 4 stops on the tube, ended up dancing with our flags on Saturday night until we were "bouncered out" about 1am.
Spent only £7 on 8 cans of beer before the match to drink on the green.
Went down with no ticket, and picked one up outside for £200, glad I didn't have to deal with the dodgy touts.

Will know what to repeat next year ad infinitum until we do win.

I had an extra 40 minutes to get ready to go out as I turned it off.

VCTM jnr and me had a great time - down on Friday afternoon - few beers in our hotel room in Hayes followed by the usual excellent curry at the Grapes Tandoori - Uxbridge Road Hayes - I can really recommend it.
Saturday morning - early getting to the Clay Oven - met some really nice people:
The three guys from Sweden - Paul, Patrick, Peter -I  kid you not !!! - I hope you all got tickets)
The family from Bedford (i.e. the bubbly Canadian lady).
Lee who had flown over from Perth Western Australia just for the game.
The messages of goodwill from Evertonians, Geordies, Liverpudlians,Mancs and even my old hairdresser from Brum who is a massive Blue nose. 
The guys who took photos of us as were were making a pigs ear of a selfie in front of the stadium.
The two Arsenal fans who had swapped tickets (at the Villa end) for tickets at the Arsenal end - and were scammed by touts- two really nice guys and I felt sick for them.
The fantastic atmosphere and support for the Villa
Abide with me - like many that means a lot to me - tears for those no longer with us
Saturday I was proud to be a Brummie and a Villa fan

The only thing that tarnished the day was the team not bothering to turn up - we were as bad as much as Arsenal were good.
There is a reason we finished 17th - plus the 12-0 aggregate says it all really.

Today I have had lots of sympathy and no stick - most are sympathetic cause they knew how much winning meant to me - I was born in 57 (July) and like others of my vintage have witnessed some great cup wins - but this is the one missing.

I think if we do win it before I depart this earth I will go absolutely ape - the win against Liverpool was magnificent, especially as I live up there .

Hopefully Saturday was the end of a bad season - we have to look forward and hope things get better - cause when they do we will be loud and proud, just as we were at 5pm last Saturday.

The sight and sound of all those Villa  flags, scarves and songs was awesome.

PS - not renewing just yet !!!!!

Watching it on MOTD I quite liked the fact that Prince William looked really pissed off handing the FA Cup over, then politely applauded, while Randy Lerner looked even more pissed off and didn't applaud at all. I really liked that, stood right behind the celebrating Arsenal players refusing to clap. I would have done the same. They are Villa supporters.
