Subbuteo -or, as I prefer to call them -TS figures, are, when used properly far more skilful than mere footballers.

I have to say that whilst I enjoyed the build up and wasn't that bothered by it it did feel all a bit manufactured and plasticky. Wave your flag, hold up your scarf, look at the fiery blasts, or here's a big flag of your crest and one of your players, oh look let's throw in a crowd surfer which messed up the scarf display, here's some people expressing themselves through the medium of modern dance with a large aerobics step in your club colours. I know this sounds being hypercritical after the event but we bemoan the gentrification of football well this is what you get.  I realise I am turning into an old fart.

I know I had a fair bit to drink but I basically laughed through the whole daft thing - I'm an old fart as well then

For the record, all the paraphernalia is indeed dreadful.

I don't know how old he is but it was all a bit Superbowl-lite. Bring back community singing with Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart and the Band of the Coldstream Guards.

I thought the same with all the on-pitch guff.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not about to start penning angry letters to the FA about it, but it was all very glitzy and, well, pointless.

I quite liked all the flames and music and all that lot.

It was certainly a more entertaining spectacle than what followed it.

Let's be polite and say well into his 40's!

Super Bowl-lite is a very good description.

Yep and it's all a bit unnecessary.  They are supposedly there to generate an atmosphere, but the pre-match atmosphere would have been just fine without all that.

i got pissed before the match because our coach get there 7 hours before kick off
i didnt cause any trouble , i didnt argue with arsenal or villa fans
i sat on the edge of my seat so as not to block the view of people behind me
this season at away match i have seen many sober villa fans fighting and arguing with other villa fans about lambert
so lets not get drinkist about villa fans who went to wembley and had a good drink before the match

Thanks for that.

But I've no idea what you're referring to.

Nobody has a problem with people having plenty to drink before the match. It's the people who start fighting with others that people are disappointed with.

I got so drunk I set fire to the pitch as the players were coming out.

You must have imagined it. At no point on Saturday were the Villa players on fire.
