I watched the highlights on MOTD yesterday and taking nothing away from our wretched defending, three of the first four all benefited from ricochets that went Southampton's way. On another, nicer day we might have got away with it.

There's no doubt that Southampton clued in on the high line thing but it's not like it was the first game we'd played that way. What they couldn't have expected is that the Keystone Cops would invade the bodies of our key defenders and also that every bounce would go for them. On another day one of Hutton, Vlaar or Given is stopping Mane for the first and the game could have turned out differently. As it was, that's not what happened and the roof fell in.
