It's been out of print for years.

Hmmmm.

Seriously, it contains some great and evocative writing but there are serious errors.

Isn't Archie Hunter's brother supposed to be present at his deathbed? Despite the fact that said brother, Andy, was already dead at the time.

He'd died four years earlier, in Australia. The book also says that Tommy Barber was killed in World War One when he went on to play for Celtic and Alex Massie resigned as manager in 1950 when it was twelve months earlier. This one was particularly odd as it was only a few years before Morris's original book came out so he would have been writing from memory, and he omits to mention that we went fifteen months without a manager.
