Think we need to lay off Clattenburg a bit, he is by far the best ref in the country right now and one iffy game doesn't change that.
We don't have to lay off him at all. I don't really care how he performs against other teams, if he is a shit ref when we play then that's what matters.

And on what grounds is he the 'best ref in the country'?

He's a poseur with a strong sense of self importance. No referee should want to be the star of the show, yet he does. And as yesterday proved, he's not a very good referee in any case.

Des Little, spot on. Clattenburg is a twat, obviously loves himself, and has spent too much time painting himself with quick drying woodstain. In my opinion, only Dowd is worse.

The only thing Clattenburg has going for him is that he's not Kevin Friend(less).

Haha. Yes, another complete twat. Is there a good referee in the modern game?

I couldn't hear it in the posh seats.

I didn't hear it in the cheap seats either?

I did.

It seemed to be near the Brigada boys - didn't bother me as I was in the Holte upper (K6) but I will be near the fellas in L7 next week so will decide then.

Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph were included in the BBC Sport team of the week after Villa's impressive victory over Everton.

Benteke bagged two in the 3-2 win while skipper Delph was the driving force in midfield.

There are several other players who can seem themselves unlucky not to be picked by judge Garth Crooks, who chooses his ultimate XI at the end of every round of matches.

Tom Cleverley was immense in the middle of the park while Jack Grealish was his usual classy self as he dictated play with his vast array of skills.

Despite that, Benteke and Delph were undoubtedly worthy inclusions.

On Delph, he said: "Here is a player who has found his way again under the direction of manager Tim Sherwood at Aston Villa.

"After his impressive display against Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final, Fabian Delph got rave reviews for his performance in Saturday's 3-2 win over Everton.

"I suspect football fans from Merseyside are beginning to get sick of the sight of him by now."

Benteke is bang in form in front of goal.

The Belgian Beast has now hit eight goals in six games and is right at the top of his game.

Villa are now 14th in the Barclays Premier League table as we look to win the survival fight and the performances of Benteke are a shining light in that battle at the basement.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Boaz Myhill (West Brom), Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea), Esteban Cambiasso (Leicester), Fabian Delph (Aston Villa), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Jordi Gomez (Sunderland), Jamie Vardy (Leicester), Christian Benteke (Aston Villa)

Gerrard aside I think Crooks got a lot else right. The inclusion of Vardy & Cambiasso particularly. Leicester looked good  against the Mags.

Surprised Clattenburg (Everton) didn't get in. Played a blinder in the bits I saw.

What a fabulous day. Aston Tavern was great, fabulous music in there. Ok, the Leicester result was a downer but we can't rely on other teams. Somebody mentioned earlier about Jack taking the pass from Delph by sliding to keep it in then getting up to keep the ball. That was one of my favourite moments too. Some wonderful football was played and we won despite Everton having 12 men.

Clattenberg should definitely have gone to Specsavers. He needs to watch a replay of that match as it there were some disgraceful decisions. Anybody know what happened in the upper Holte? Looked like it was kicking off a bit around K5.

I saw a woman on Trinity Road selling half and half Villa and Arsenal scarves. I told her it was disgraceful and a lot of people around me agreed. What are they thinking?
