Newcastle look fucked/ lost the last 5 according to the Graun. Love to see them go again for the comedy value of fat weeping bare chested Geordies.

Carver is way out of his depth and looked close to tears during the post match interview.

It's worse than that they've lost the last 7
We'll get the right answer in the end - today was their eighth defeat in a row. Which I think takes one of Lambert's unpleasant records for the season away from us.

Good result for us another three points towards safety what would we do without Benteke.

Came away from the Man Shitty defeat feeling confident that we'd stay up. That's genuinely the first time this season I've felt that way which, considering we'd just lost was a bit odd.

So I have to say that after another brilliant display today I'm disappointed not to be effectively assured of safety. Such is zlife. This time next week I think we will be virtually ok.

As for today's game....

delph - brilliant and I'm convinced he's not finished developing yet.

Grealish- the best kid to come through since Gabby without doubt. He has bags more talent....time will tell how he uses it.

Sherwood - fantastic for his bravado and enthusiasm alone.

Negatives? Shaky defence still. Vlaar and Okore haven't gelled yet. Sorry but Given has had his day. The pen was saveable and although he was impeded he should have had enough spring to make the ball safe for their second. I will concede though, I would also have dropped Guzan. New keeper inwards this summer?

Watched the Newcastle game before Villa, what a mess they are in Carver, is clueless and i had the strong impression the two players sent of were very happy to walk, they are us before Sherwood and as the commentator said they will not get another point this season.

I got very worried when Everton scored their first as it seemed our defence was starting to panick and i could see an equaliser coming but our third was one of our goals of the season, and what about Cleverley?
shops are running out of flour as there is so much humble pie being cooked.

I loved Grealish's fake that put McCarthy on his backside, what a player he will be.

Made all the more special by jack visibly laughing and chuckling as he laid the ball off. Cannot wait to see him score his first goal. Also throwing his shirt into the Holte after the game was a nice touch, we love him and he loves us! Super jack super jack...super jack grealish!

Early days I know, but Grealish looks the real deal. His future is at his feet- so mature and composed for a youngster. Hopefully touch wood, he steers clear of injury and doesn't get all billy big bollocks. Best English player going at the moment in my view ( Delph runs hima close 2nd)

Its hardly humble pie though... Cleverly was pretty useless up until 7 games ago.

After watching it back on Sky and MOTD, Given was fouled by Coleman for their secon - he was holding Given by the arm. Useless Clattenberg missed that and several other blatant fouls. We definitely played against 12 men.

Murphy said it was 51 passes and two minutes of possession, although our best bit of football was when we ripped them apart down the right wih Hutton crossing.
Yes it was but Hutton made a very poor cross that Jagielka cleared with the Beast prowling on the penalty spot on his own!

He started ok but then was poor, partly due to playing out of position a lot

There were plenty who decided he was fundamentally shit, rather than just playing badly though.

its funny that I've just changed my gorgeous little one and the contents of his nappy bore a similar resemblance to Mark Clatenburg's performance. He was literally their best player.

A shame that we've all had to mention this, but the lack of protection offered to Delph, for the five times he was hacked down, the cynical way that Everton generally went about their business that went unpunished caused much annoyance on the Holte End. He tried to let the game flow, but at the expense of common sense.

Our performance however, was very good, especially the first half. While we didn't cave out a stack of chances, we really should have been three up within the first 45. I checked the stats on my phone at half time which confirmed my recollection that Everton had not had a kick around our half; no shots and no corners. We completely bosses them possession wise and positionally, always looking like we carried a threat.

Sherwood had identified their huge weakness; the arial ball. Jagelika isn't international standard and Stones was equally bullied. Second half they came into it a little more, but Given didn't have to exert himself and it was only our panick on an occasion or two that caused trouble.

Our much deserved third was sublime. Grealish continues to look impressive. For Everton, it was like trying to defend against Batman, as he pops up here there and everywhere and vanishes away from the opposition in an instant. He sat McCarthy on his backside with effortless aplomb.

Delph was excellent, Cleverley too, who we must sign up. N'Zogbia's positional play created space for him and both Grealish and Benteke. A great performance.

The way we sliced them open down the right in the second was sensational football. I'd love to see them move back.

It's been a longtime since I have enjoyed a home performance quite so much, but it had the feeling of routine about it, as if this was the standard. You're going to come to Villa Park and have to be very good to beat us, as it should be. Hopefully that comes true.
