I can't remember a season where the last few teams are winning so many. In a "normal" season our recent form would have seen us safe(ish).

Would not be fantastic if Newcastle were relegated again?

It's in our hands though. The last 3 games are all winnable. West Ham with nothing really to play for, and with Big Sams future in doubt their players are hardly playing for their future. Saints could be just running out of steam. Burnley could be the toughest since they will most likely be gone and just enjoying their last day out.

A deserved win. Does anyone know how many passes we strung together in that two minutes before Delph was fouled. Clattenburg who is usually quite reasonable was dreadful  today. How he missed the foul on Given I cant imagine. Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Lennie Peters
would all have got that right! Sherwood is doing a sterling job but still plenty of work to do in the next few weeks.

Given the other results that was a massive win

We're into May and we could finish 13th, or go down.

Odd season.

Excellent performance by team. I was a little concerned when I saw the team as there appeared to be no DCM and the fullback positions looked vulnerable but fair play to Sherwood, he came up trumps.

Delph was magnificent and they had no answer other than to constantly block him and chop him down. Cliterbug must have had a bet on the number yellow cards issued. Grealish looks threatening every time he gets the ball and his corner kicks are in a different dimension compared to what we have had to endure for several years. Benteke had a great time with their centre backs.

A few other observations. It is not a great idea when you get a free kick in wide and very deep position to throw everybody forward and hoist the ball into the box. Westwood does what he does very well, but he is not a DCM and the way Lukaku waltzed around him late in the second half was indicative. Vlaar is far more likely to make mistakes when he is playing on his wrong side.

Great entertainment, great result and a great time to be a Villa fan.

I must say we were superb today. This was not a 3-2 not even close. 3-0 would have been more like it. It was a pleasure to be at Villa Park today. All 3 goals were great  for different reasons. The beast had no right to nod that floated cross into the net and than the absolute flash like reaction to tap home Vlaar's header... brilliant however well done to Tom for superbly taken goal. I thought they were all very good except may be Vlaar who always worries me.

Would not be fantastic if Newcastle were relegated again?

Especailly after what Carver said about us earlier. Seems he's put his foot in it again today, hope they implode.
What has he said about us.

About when we put them down a few years ago, before we played them recently, he said something to the effect of '' i'll never forget how their crowd reacted to us going down'' what goes around comes around sort of thing. Well Mr Carver, 0 points next week and you are proper fcuked.

All the pubs in St Lawrence Gap were advertising our game alongside Liverpool v QPR, but come 10.am (kick off time), all channels had switched to the Liverpool game and no-one could get the game on!

Ended up gathered round a table in The Sporting Pig with 4 other Villa fans, straining to hear Talksport commentary on my iPad! So nervy - but at least good to share the experience with fellow Villans all these miles away!

......and well done to everyone who was there - the home crowd sounded fantastic today! We were singing along with you here in Barbados!

My Dad lives up just north of Speightstown on the North West coast and he had it on today at his house - if only I'd known you could have gone round - he's very hospitable!!

Sunderland winning and their game in hand is still a concern but we did what we had to today. Delph was MOTM by far, Nzogbia still needs to do much more for me.
I think this is going to be a 39/40 points safety season.
Sunderland's game in hand is v Arsenal and 36/37 would be enough as there are 4 teams below us now for 1 position and they all 6 teams play each other as well.
