All the pubs in St Lawrence Gap were advertising our game alongside Liverpool v QPR, but come 10.am (kick off time), all channels had switched to the Liverpool game and no-one could get the game on!

Ended up gathered round a table in The Sporting Pig with 4 other Villa fans, straining to hear Talksport commentary on my iPad! So nervy - but at least good to share the experience with fellow Villans all these miles away!

......and well done to everyone who was there - the home crowd sounded fantastic today! We were singing along with you here in Barbados!

For some reason i had a good feeling about this game. Really that scoreline flattered everton. I don't usually criticise refs but Clattenburg needs to have a look at his performance today.

According to the English law, can we suit Lambert for damages now?
Not only many players appear transformed now and so is the entire team, but we were boring, we never scored and neither shoot to the goal, now we play an attacking, passing, entertaining football  and score two or three goals every game with any opponents.
The members of this forum are sharper than the Villa board, then?

So much to enjoy about some of the play. I think my favourite was when Delph Zidanishly beat two players in our half, then sprung that pass for Grealish who kept it in with a very cool slide/control. It was like watching a Champions League team at times (though not at the back!).

This is my favourite word ever

Would not be fantastic if Newcastle were relegated again?

We played incredibly well today. Everton are a dirty side, all body checks and hacks. With an acquiescent referee they were able to indulge all afternoon. Everton have a good team sheet, they should stick to playing football. Clattenberg has nothing at all to fall back on, a terrible performance from a poor referee.

The football only came from one team.

We should be safe but we still have a fair bit to do. It's just a shame we do not have Newcastle on the last day, I quite like Burnley.

Agree with everything you said about Clattenberg.  Everton were playing on the fact that he was not booking any players.  There was a period in the 2nd half when they committed 4 fouls in the space of about 2 minutes, one after another.

Especailly after what Carver said about us earlier. Seems he's put his foot in it again today, hope they implode.

He really was terrible today. People climbing all over Benteke, Naismith's hack on Delph, Grealish having defenders chop him down every touch, Givens receiving a yellow after that diabolical no call at the end, the penalty of Vlaar was scripted by Naismith but he always falls over, the Mirallas dive shortly there after. Just sad.

Truly pathetic, glad he wasn't given our day at Wembley. Far too big of an occasion for that nit to steal the show.

That being said, we kicked ass today.

What I really encouraged by is how we played at Villa Park. We looked so confident and exactly how a home team should look. Given that we will play two more at home I have no worries anymore about going down.

Mightily relieved that we won and played well by all accounts but shaking off those below us is like shaking shit off your shoe.     Leicester are just bastards for winning 5 out of their last 6 or whatever it is, but I think a win next week should just about see us home.   What could be most significant is we're now above Newcastle,  albeit on goal difference, who must have thought themselves safe weeks ago.   Although their run in isn't that daunting on paper they must be utterly bereft of confidence and belief at the minute.  Minor quibble - conceding late goals again is something we can't seem to overcome and we really could have done with maximising goal difference, just in case.

Love it. Tim's fashioned a side I actually feel proud watching. Skills, positivity and, importantly: backbone.

Delph was superb, Benteke, Jack and TC close behind.
