Just read a bit more of the thread and I didn't realise Steer was cup-tied. My apologies (or my bad as the kids say, innit).

One more thing to be pissed off at Lambert for - on current form, who wouldn't rather have Albrighton starting wide of Benteke instead of Gabby? Great sales policy, Paul.

Most on here weren't bothered about him going.

Fair enough, I'll have to disagree for my part. I thought he was going nowhere under Lambert so it was a good move for him, but that that was Lambert's fault rather than his.

Whilst PWS has a point about not too many people being overly fussed when he went, you do wonder how much Sherwood would have got out of him.

For what it's worth I liked Albrighton and said at the time he was probably our best player the last couple of months of the season, certainly in an attacking sense. That said, it wasn't like there was much competition.

Agreed Clampy, especially given that Sherwood is playing more to Albrighton's strengths, namely more width and crosses from the byline (as opposed to the halfway line, Lambert's favourite crossing position).

He did look better than a lot last season, PWS, but Lambert didn't fancy him for whatever reason. Probably because he didn't believe in wingers.

Fixed.

I thought he was a cracking little player. Maybe he thought a move was right for him personally though. Daniel Johnson looks good on the albeit rare occasions i've seen him for Preston as well.

What are peoples thoughts on ospina and szcezesny ?
And szczesny in particular is a disastrous keeper. I'm wondering if AW will be changing keeps?
Worth keeping ear to ground on that.

The arsenal line up is interesting Alexis Sanchez a class act and Ozil certainites in usual position but Ramsey , Santi Carzola  could be deployed either wide, hole or deep lying depending if coq au vin gets the nod ahead of Wilshire? Or for Theo to come in on wing and Ramsey to be more central .

For the last 2 months of last season; whilst trying to sell himself; Allbrighton was good (which compared to the rest of the team, wasn't difficult). For the previous 3 seasons he was anonymous.

He wouldn't get a game under Sherwood either.

****fa cup thread*******

George Ramsey manager won fa cup with Villa 6 times Wenger if he wins equals that record he must be stopped.
That's some achievement by Ramsey and must be highlighted in the run up to the match .
I don't care whatever era thats an amazing achievement it just shows the illustrious history of villa as a football club and in the fa cup history!!

I'd like to see the BBC have a programme on history of fa cup through the ages .
Including interesting stats like that .

Looking at Villa's full backs, Wenger would be nuts not to play Theo
