all I could think of when they were jumping around in the huddle and then as they ran towards the fans is please don't pick up any more injuries.

I am a hard to please, cynical, dyed in the wool miserablist by nature, but fuck me, that was honestly one of the best days out I've had in absolutely years.

I'm old enough to have seen us win stuff and what not, but coming when it did and how it did, it was fucking magnificent.

I had to take a chair to work with me my back hurts so much. Then I realized when Fabian's goal went in, I lifted my son bodily in the air. Me, the bloke who has his own groanathon lifting a bottle of milk off the doorstep.

I'm glad it's not just me sad enough to have listened to the five live commentary again

I can't remember the last time I revelled in a villa win like this. I think it might be the 90s.

It's not just that we won. Or that we've had such a shit time of late that this felt so special. It's that we went toe to toe with them and played them off the park. In that respect it's a bit like the inter Milan victories.

And GREALISH. I can't tell you how excited I am about him.

Same here. Just finished listening. Great commentary. Jenas spoilt it by saying, in the end, he wouldn't be surprised if there is a bid by Liverpool for Benteke.
Their lot were saying the same thing on their forums as if it was a done-deal, the way things are going, we might put bid in for Cautinho just to piss `em off!!..

This must be the longest post match thread ever!  I too lifted my son up in the air for both goals and the final whistle Brian.  Thankfully he's only 11, I'm still aching all over though.  At the end of the game I looked around and two young kids were crying.  I then realised the one in front of us had his iPhone knocked out of his hand while he was trying to take pics of the celebration and it was smashed and the one behind us had raked his shins down the seat in front of him, ouch!  The 3 lads on the end of the row, who'd had more than a few sherberts, were all lying on the floor on top of each other.

We have two Arsenal "followers" here at work - the first words out their mouths on  Monday was "Benteke is going to Man Utd" - I pointed out that even if true this would not occur before the 30th May - I then graciously congratulated them on reaching the Final and asked if I should help them obtain tickets - they looked confused as actually attending matches doesn't seem to part of their lives...

Ah the lovely Liverpool fans talking as if a player they want is already theirs. I remember it well, Barry did so well for them too.

Benteke should he leave would go a Top 10 European Club.

Liverpool are miles from that. They are 4th in a League that didn't provide a ~Chumps League Quarter Finalists.

Then again if they paid us £20m for Downing they'd probably fork out £125m for Benteke by that rationale.

Can I just add that I hate Liverpool with a passion. I grew up with Brummie Reds at school and could never understand why they didn't support a local team. I used to will any European club to beat them just to shut them up. I used to find them the most boring of sides to watch, pass pass pass back to goalie....... and repeat......

Sunday was pay back for years of all that crap. It was lovely.

But I will also add that the scousers who attended the game and spoke to me after the match were nothing but gracious in defeat.

Roll on Cup Final Day!!

It's probable that I might get some work done today.  Can't guarantee it mind as I'm sure there's more to see and read on the internet.

Got sent this last night, very funny.  It's not safe for work by the way.

On the second goal and also the final whistle after celebrating with my mates I hugged the fella behind me. I saw him on the way out, we looked at each other sheepishly, shook hands manlily and mumbled a 'safe trip home pal'

It was a tender, very English moment.
