How on earth has a train crash of a season culminated in a FA Cup Final appearance.

Tim Sherwood

No other explanation

Until February this was probably the most godawful season I've experienced in 25 years as a Villa fan. Since Sherwood arrived it's been a turnaround which could culminate in it being the most fantastic in these 25 years. Certainly winning the FA Cup (as long as we stay up with it) would probably nudge the 94 Cup final into second place for me.

Over 60% of villa fans standing throughout the game. Villa and standers were the winners. A song for standers to sing at sitters "there's many more many many more of us than you " to the tune of I'd rather be a gypo than a nose.
I know we won and glad you had a good day, but you sound like a right knob-end

I still refuse to believe we'll win. It's too scary to hope this is what we're really like.

Fantastic day out - well done and thanks to everyone representing our club today and well done to the Liverpool fans too, they were different class compared to the opposing fans on our last few visits to Wembley.

Highlights on BBC after MOTD2 tonight at 11.30 in case any of you hadn't noticed. I might just have another beer watching that.

What an amazing day. To a man the Villa were excellent. Went with my Dad and Brother, pints before,  the atmosphere, the game,, pints after, loads of gracious Liverpool fans,  fa cup final to come. Today is what football and family is about.

On that note thoughts and best wishes to FFD's mum,  glad you had that amazing day together,  hope you have many more the same.

Have to agree with the comments about Liverpool fans, they were fantastic. We had some great banter with them outside the pub on Baker Street before decanting to the throngs of Villa fans in Wetherspoons opposite. Lots of hugs and shaking of hands with them and even some joint singing of our and their songs. Every one I met on the train and tube back said we deserved it, both for our performance and the fans' support. One Pool fan said he had never seen anything like it.

The roar at the end came from Sherwood urging us on. It was one of those moments where for a second or two, you'd like to be at the other end to hear it, as it was biblically loud. No idea what it sounded like on the box.

Quality day out and a wonderful performance. We're all laughing now!

Had a great chat with Ken McNaught in the Holiday Inn after the game. Asked him how he'd cope with big Christian and he said he'd have him in his pocket. Class. Apparently invited by the club. Great to hear they're looking after ex players. Great day, great result. I love football.

From bang on the halfway line, it sounded fucking phenomenal. It was a guttural roar and what sounded like every single person stamping their feet at the same time, really, as i said earlier, 40 years going to matches and I can think of very few moments like that. Hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

The fans were truly brilliant today, just brilliant. Things like that make you think of the potential at this club.

The neutral lady I sat next to who was a CW member and down with her husband and daughter for both semi finals was telling me how the atmosphere was infinitely better than that for the Arsenal - Reading semi final, and how our fans and team had basically "run things" from the start.

One other thing, I amazed myself at how incredibly calm I felt today. I never felt we were struggling, never felt like we were going to throw it away once we'd got ourselves back into it. To a degree, I usually find being at the match less stressful than watching on the television, but even taking that into account, it was really only the last 10 minutes - when i started looking at the clock - that I felt even remotely less than totally calm.
