Richardson performs the worst left back display I have ever seen in my life but somehow retains his place.

I can see the logic if he was any good going forward, you sacrifice his inability to defend - but he gave the ball away so much when going forward as well as his shocking defending skills. I'm amazed.

I don't know what Okore has done to deserve the drop.  Vlaar didn't do much on Tuesday and Okore has been our best defending in the second half of the season.  It is again the defence which worries me I think Shancez needs to have a good game today.

I really hope I'm wrong but I haven't been confident about this game all week. Come on Villa surprise me and win.

We should be playing Okore for his pace. He'll need to help out Bacuna who struggles against quick opposition. Richardson will probably have a torrid time against Townsend.
I'm not fancying our chances of conceding less than 2.
I do fancy us to score though. Hopefully it'll be close, but if Spurs turn up today, we'll get shredded to pieces.

How is Lowton stuck on the bench when Richardson put in one of the worst displays by a professional left back that I've seen in ages? How does Vlaar come into the team, muck up our defending, then retain his place? How is Joe Cole still on the bench? I'm not impressed with that team.

As others have said, Richardson starting after Tuesday's horror show?

Really? With Lowton on the bench?

And Vlaar again, despite looking rubbish during the week?

I'm really pretty disappointed with that line-up. If it was the case that Richardson 'had a point to prove' or something, then I could sort of see it, but the fact that Vlaar is playing again suggests that this is Sherwood's preferred option at the back, which given Okore's performances and promise, seems a bit odd.

Oh well, we'll see I suppose.

Where's Cissokho? Not on our injury list on Physioroom

Its Sherwood being conserative and going for the safe/he'll put a shift in experience option, but I agree with the pace Spurs I think its a mistake.

Think at the other end we need to be direct and to get players like Delph, the wingers and Gabby and CB pushed up the field from the off.  We need to make it an ugly game and out muscle Spurs in midfield if not they will just run circles around us.

Their not in the confiderent mood which Man Utd were last week so I do see chances for us if we can hold our own a not concede in the first 20-30 minutes.

Perhaps there's a ladies' athletics meeting today he's taking part in.

Really annoyed Richardson is in, It's hardly like he offers anything special going forward to make up for him not being a defender. Okore being left out continues to baffle me too.

Still think we can get something though.

Let's just hope Sherwood showed Richardson on film how utterly gash he was and that this is his last chance. Though not sure this is the kind of opponent I'd be fucking around with on second chances. We'll see how it goes. As a professional you have to hope Richardson realizes he wasn't good vs QPR and puts in a much better display. Vlaar wasn't as bad but it wasn't his best either, so he needs to come through today.

Going to have to defend a whole better than we did on Tuesday.

I have a feeling we'll pull off a surprise win today. 🙏🏻

I see Richardson as a solid squad player not much else, but if you play him then it should be in midfield or out wide.
