This decision opens up the long standing debate about the lack of a club anthem and variety of songs sung by Villa fans. For a club with such a strong vocal support (particularly away from home), I've never known us to have an "anthem" as such and after years of standing on the Holte you'd have thought there would have been a natural selection for such a choice...but there's not and never really has been (well, not in my lifetime).

How many clubs actually have recognisable distinguished "anthems"? Do we even need one?

WTF, who the hell voted for that shite? I've never seen or heard anyone at VP take the slightest bit of notice when it's played.

I'm completely not arsed about us not having an 'anthem'. A wall of noise sounds much better.

I notice an omission. Much as I hate them, they have one.

To be fair this site and the OS posted details of a the vote....yet only about 5000 votes. So like not voting in the election....you shouldn't moan at the result.  I don't give shite what they play. Atmosphere at football is all about the 90 mins. I have no doubt we will do our bit.  I will  :)

Exactly. If there ever was a need for an "anthem" (or a song that fans adopt and adapt as their own) then I'm sure one would have come to the light over the last 30-40 years...I've always found that we make more than enough noise with a wide repertoire of songs (even if the variety seems to have dwindled over the years).

For a club to have an anthem there has to be some kind of consensus, and the only thing Villa fans are in agreement about is delight when we score and win, and despair when we lose. Everything else is up in the air, from the kit design to whether a former chairman was a twat or not. This is why we'll never agree on an anthem. All attempts to artificially generate some kind of anthem have been an embarrassment. Spontaneity is our strength, and I hope we use it to drown out the dirge at Wembley on Sunday with whatever organically occurring racket we can muster.

Loads of teams have 'Can't help falling in love with you' - I don't particularly associate with Sunderland.

Me too, I wonder which would intimidate me more if I was an opposition player walking up the tunnel - an absolute wall of noise coming from thousands of roaring, hostile home fans or "I'm forever blowing bubbles".
