I went for ghost riders but frankly they are all shit choices and for old people. We need to stop trying to show horn rubbish music in because it has links with the club or has been used in the 80s. If I could change our entrance music to anything it would be Underdog by Kasabian.

I've put up with watching Villa under TSM and then under Lambert but the day Villa run out to anything by Kasabian will be the day my Season a Ticket finally goes in the bin. We all have to draw the line somewhere.

Well said that man.

Ghost Riders is a song we sing every game...always guaranteed to get a response as soon as someone shouts "Yippee Aye Aaaaaaaaa, Yippee Aye Oooooo..." it's not shoe-horned in!

If anything would be "shoe-horned" in to anything to do with The Villa it's Kasabian!

Good to see Ghost Riders getting plenty of votes now - lets face it we're up against You'll Never Walk Alone so we need something that everyone gets behind and from those on the list this is our best effort.

Have to say though I do like the new song and hope this will start to become more of an anthem by the time we reach the Champions league final ;)

Why not Hi Ho Silver Lining?  It's our song, and is more sing - alongable than any of the other options.  Certainly, it's more likely than any of the rest to whip the crowd up into a wall of noise.

I use this as my proof:

Most football songs are versions of old tunes anyway. Kasabian? No ta.

I voted other- Clarry Blue the Villa Villan, always smilin', always willin', to cheer his team on to victory. They just don't do such incisive lyric writing anymore. It's edgy, triumphalist and intimidating and will strike fear into the opposistion.

If the younger fans can adopt a more modern tune as a Villa song then you'd have a point, but nowadays fans don't seem to have a mind of their own when it comes to chants and songs. Everything is just the same as what other club's fans sing, there's no originality at all. Hardly any of our players even have a chant especially for them (apart from "booooo"). Where's our modern equivalent to "Dwight Yorke, Dwight Yorke" when we went to Wembley in 96? Whoever scores our cup final winner this year will probably get a chorus of "There's only one….".
"Ghost Riders" was already an old cowboy song when Villa fans started singing it - the generation who had grown up with western films on TV, or who might have heard their parents or grandparents playing Burl Ives, Frankie Lane or Bing Crosby on the gramophone/record player.
Football songs are folk songs passed down through the generations, but folk songs get adapted, updated and new ones still get written.
Adapt a modern tune, make it your own, pass it down through the generations and THEN it makes the playlist for Villa Park or Wembley - it's not the other way round.

Went initially for Hi-Hi Aston Villa until I re-read the options. Number 3 just makes me think of Villa whenever I hear so for that reason option 3 all day long.

The problem with Hi Ho is that the rest of the song is largely irrelevant, and other than shouting Hi Ho Aston Villa a couple of times there's nothing much to sing along with.
