Thanks for all that much appreciated. The Witton train should be the answer but it was hell last week with the Swansea fans all heading for New St. It caused us to miss the best train back to Euston. If I can get back to my son's house in daylight my night driving problem does not kick in so timing is important. I wondered if we walk back to the Bartons if we could get a taxi there. Has anybody tried that? If I were not such a geriatric we could walk back to the city centre through Gosta Green the way we used to do in the days of centre partings and boots with toecaps.
We had a nightmare on Saturday, trying to get a cab back from the corner of Nelson Road/Witton Road to the Jewellery Quarter. We booked one, waited for 20 mins, phoned back up and was told to wait another 20 mins and it still never came. In the end, we got into a private hire car that we hadn't booked but who's driver was prepared to take us to the pub
Walking to town is quicker in my experience than waiting for buses or taxis, especially if it is a well attended game.
after the swansea match 2 buses collided by the yew tree pubcausing gridlock back to witton island and nothing moved till 6pmi often get the train from witton without a ticket cos you cant buy one at witton station and just walk through at new street and no one says anythingsometimes i walk and get the busthe best route is along the broadway from witton roadabout a ten minute walkall the way to birchfield road just down from one stoploads of buses from there to town33, 51 etc ,,,,,,,,,,and no traffic jams
