Somerset 360/5 at close of play. Hildreth on 118 not out.

Rankin and Wright not in the team I see.

Everybody I spoke to last week at Edgbaston was glad that the season was over, and that the weather had been beyond awful into the surreal zone.

Good job the Bears got points under their belt earlier in the season. The last 4/5 games have been relegation form. Trott hasn't performed;  so many batsmen out of form. The bowling is awful as well. Things need sorting big time Dougie......

I will be glad when this awful season is over. There haven't been too many highlights have there? Even McCullum's innings in the T20 was about him and not the team.

It seems that Hain's early season injury really affected him, which is hardly surprising. He will come good again. Trott has had a poor season by his own high standards and I am starting to question his hunger. It wouldn't surprise me if he retires soon. The rest of the batsmen have been pretty poor; our openers continually fail and it's a sad indictment that their highest opening partnership is 88 in this current game.

We have a good attack, one of the top two or three attacks on the county circuit. If the batsmen don't score enough runs then the bowlers cannot continually produces miracles.

I think Dougie is out of his depth and that we need a more high-profile experienced coach before we endure another season of under performance and stagnation.

Sad as it is to say, I agree. Good, wholehearted player, has done a fairly respectable job as coach but if he stays on next year I can see us really struggling.

Andy Moles anyone?

Hoping Hampshire finish about Sussex (only because we have a poor record against Sussex), I think they will if they beat Nott's and Yorkshire beat Sussex.

I would make both Hampshire and Sussex slight underdogs in their matches, both batting second.

A few quick wickets for Hampshire, Nott's 171 ahead with 5 wickets remaining. Yorkshire seem to be batting quite slowly, which may suit Sussex (would a draw be enough for them?).
