Just got back from Edgbaston.  After the gloomy forecast, there was hardly a spot of rain! Woakes and Evans took the game away with the bat and it was always going to be tough for Esssex from there.

I was thinking of staying at home, and the covers were on when I got to the ground just after 6pm, and there were some brollies up at the City End.   

The big difference between the two teams in this format is the fielding. We are very good in this discipline.

I think the strength in batting was evident tonight.  We looked in trouble at one point, but Evans and Woakes stepped up and won the game.  When you consider Ambrose didn't bat then it shows the strength that is there.  With everyone fit, the bowling attack is very strong as well.

I still think I'd put Woakes in to bat before Clarke. Clarke takes a while to get going and quite often gets out cheaply trying to produce big shots early in his innings.

I must admit I didn't fancy us against Bopara, Ryder et al. But well batted Evans and Woakes, especially in the last 2 overs. Clarke aka 'buckethands' seems to have had a new lease of life as well. I did feel a bit sorry for Gordon even though I'm not a massive fan of his.

Every time we took a wicket another dangerous and big hitter seemed to replace them. Ryder, Bopara, ten Doeschate and they had Napier lower down the order. Their fielding wasn't that great though.

Clarke started well last night, but I take your point.  Depends on the state of the game I suppose.

embarrassing for the Pears last night, and indeed the ECB.

It's pretty bad that there are counties left without floodlights in 2015, but knowing that, surely the game should have been played saturday or sunday afternoon?

Anyone know when the draw is made for T20 semi-finals. Ideally Bears first game & win then nip down the Villa v Sunderland the back to Edgbaston to see 3 wins in a day........
