Heading for a bore draw! It's tea at Edgbaston with Warwickshire 563-6. Check out the report here: http://edgb.cc/3tMYj  #YouBears

What an exciting 4 days that must have been at Edgbaston. Are the Bears in danger of a points deduction here?

Went without alcohol for this match as well. Talk about bad timing.

Quote
Dougie Brown, the Warwickshire director of cricket, revealed afterwards that there had been another strip ready for this match but, after an injury to Barker left them a seamer short, they plumped for a pitch used twice before in Twenty20 matches and picked three spinners.

"It was my call," he said. "The one thing we have not been able to do regularly here is get pitches that spin and we thought this one would turn so we could get our spinners into the game but it never happened that way. The pitch just got slower and slower. To be fair, our groundsman Gary Barwell warned us that a different pitch might be better to play on. It was our decision and sometimes you just have to say you got it wrong."

To be honest, if it was any other county than Warwickshire, I would want action to be taken.

A 600 for 6 plays 600 for 6 pitch is in my opinion as bad, if not worse than a 30 wickets falling in 2 days pitch

I think the latter circumstance is more to do with the potential for a pitch being dangerous. The rules aren't designed just to stop boring matches.

I think Nottinghamshire were heavily fined for the completely dead pitch they produced for the test against India last year.

I agree that maybe there shouldn't be a points deduction for a dead pitch in the first instance. However, I do think there should be some form of punishment. These sort of pitches kill the game stone dead. There should be some sort of contest between bat and ball. There clearly wasn't in this match
