Outside of TMS, radio coverage of Cricket is amateurish.

I was listening to a Bears game a couple of seasons ago and at the lunch interval they shuffled off for a pint and a sandwich but left the microphones on. Every so often you'd hear a cough or a rustling of crisp packets and the like. It was surreal, akin to watching the text card on BBC when you were a kid.

Interesting tactical switch by the Pears. No keeper.

It's within the rules but I wonder if the ICC will move to outlaw it?

If there was a award for worst online cricket reporter ,dear old Clive Eakin would surely be one of the top contenders. I can not think of any other reporter who makes so many mistakes .
One of the annoying things about him is his obvious dislike  of Villa and love of that little club down the A45 Coventry. Last week there was a mention of Dennis Mortimer being invited to the Champions League final and quick as a flash he was telling us he was a ex Coventry star .When it was pointed out that he actually played a lot more games for Villa and actually was captain of  a side winning the European cup and the Division 1 title ,he soon shut up

I am sorry to read criticism of the BBC radio commentary of County coverage including that of the Bears, what people must remember that the BBC have
continuously year on year tried to drop the on-line cricket coverage from their schedules and it's because of the support from people like you lot and i for
that matter that we manage to keep this coverage going. Yes Clive Eakin is a Coventry fan and sometimes covers their games, he certainly isnt the worst commentator on there
and he gives some great insights to the goings on at grounds around the country, i think that he, Phil Britt and Mike Taylor do a great job and should be applauded for the work they do.
we even have the excellent Brian Halford adding his expertise to the proceedings.
Please don't slag em off we may lose em forever and that would be a catastrophe of huge proportions!!!!

The guy who covers Yorkshire (David Callaghan) is fine especially when with Kevin Howells but when you throw in an opposition commentator it becomes too much like Alan Partridge.
