And the next County Championship game which is against Worcestershire starts on Saturday instead of the usual Sunday, presumably to allow 2 weekend days for the local derby. That's great, but it clashes with another quite important sporting event in the area.

In defence of whoever compiles the cricket fixtures, I doubt they think of potential clashes with the cup final.

Trotty has retired from International cricket with immediate effect

A shame but inevitable I am afraid I hope he plays for the Bears for a few more seasons

Depends how long he plays on for his motivation levels may drop now

I think he'll retire from all cricket before the end of the season. Hopefully he'll give it to the end and see how he feels.

Hopefully,it has to be good news for the Bears. Trotty can now concentrate on playing for the Bears for a good few years.

You are right about that, I am sure. The Bears v Pears 4 day game though,  starts on this Saturday at Edgbaston instead of the usual Sunday start for such games which means that quite a few Villa fans will be leaving the ground at lunch to head to VP.

Well  done Peter Moores, playing Trott as an opener was never right.

Anyone have any idea why the Bears v Pears match is starting on Saturday instead of the normal Sunday?

An extra day's weekend play equals more money? Seems a sensible day to start.

I only saw the first session as there was a sporting event on the other side of the city which I felt compelled to attend.

Very impressed with the Worcestershire seam attack which made the most of winning the toss and favourable conditions, especially Leach. Only 3 of them as well. We finished on 258/8 with Leach taking 5 for 68.

If Wright and Barker don't do some damage early on in their innings tomorrow, my nagging doubts about our attack will be rekindled.
