Saturday wasn't anything like Blues games in atmosphere, it was raucously pro Villa but the hatred wasn't there.

I completely agree. It was boisterous, raucous fun and I never once felt any threat around the ground.

The late lamented, by me at least, Greg Gnasher used to say that not going to games and watching on the telly gave an insight you couldn't possibly get from being at the ground.

The late, unlamented Greg Gnasher said a lot of nonsense.

You weren't there. You were watching it on the telly. Your original comment was that it 'looked awful'.

Armchair supporter, handing down judgement.
I was watching it on a free feed because I can't afford a TV licence.  And if I can't go it's because I'm on benefits and after my rent is paid I have £240 per month left to pay for everything else: food, getting around, bills, everything.  So you'll have to forgive me if I can't afford to get the train up from London to Brum and pay for a ticket.  And I'm not going to have you look down your privileged nose at me for it.  Hand that judgement down you smarmy cocksucker.

I'm sure you want to apologise for that remark.

Perhaps he does, but I can see why he was pissed off.

Anyway, hope they both calm down, don't want to see either of them get banned.

Indeed he did, and none more so than that. He wasn't quite so erudite as some but I like to think he knew he was talking bollocks.

Patrick Barclay comparing it to Heysel is ridiculous.
When did he do that?

On Sky's Sunday morning show where they have the football writers on. Although to give it some context he did say that the reason the fences went up was to combat pitch invasions and the fences then led to Hillsborough.

So he's almost saying that what happened at Hillsborough was the fault of the fans?

I'm sure you could find it and make your own mind up, I'm a bit biased in that I like Barclay and find him a thoughtful and insightful writer. He wasn't really directly comparing it, rather more taking a subject to an illogical conclusion but it was certainly clumsy.

Clumsy is being kind. There was no need to mention Heysel at all really. I'm begining to think we're the only club in the whole world who's fans have invaded the pitch.

Even in the pub before there was some handy looking Albion lads and noone really cared as they were behaving themselves, wouldn't have happened with Blues

I can't recall him doing so to be fair.

The Graun has managed to chill out and give a fairer account of proceedings, plus they've included further quotes from Delph they couldn't be arsed to report earlier.

Maybe we are, at least in recent times.  I can't think of the last time there was any more than the odd nutter on the pitch before the final whistle.  Certainly not the numbers there were yesterday.

It's a loss of control, and that's not going to go down well.

I can see why he was pissed off too. He probably shouldn't have said what he did, but then damon shouldn't have said what he did either. There's lots of people who can't attend games for wherever reason, and if hilts cannot do it then he shouldn't have to justify why. He is entitled to his opinion whether he goes to games or not.

Still, it's great to see the way a good result brings us all together.

Though true to form in their long established sloppy traditions, they referred to our game as an East Midlands derby in their minute by minute report.

Henry Winter in the Telegraph has a piece on how yesterday is not a return to days of yore too.
