Some people were on the pitch. They thought it was all over. It is now.

It's a sign of the times, I'm afraid, in this culture of obligatory outrage and offence, this sanitised corporate age, that a bit of silly over-exuberance has been turned into something approaching a massacre.

I was there on Tuesday, and duly let off a bit of steam at the end. And it struck me that, in these times of rolling media scrutiny, childish finger-pointing and faux moral indignation, how few opportunities there are for people to do that. So much of what we're force fed via the media is pro-faced, micro-managed and anodyne, and what happened on Saturday night was a shot of realism.

The fools that ran on before the end pissed me off - they might have got the game called off. But at the end nobody died, many thousands sang and celebrated. It was spontaneous and raw. I'd rather live in a world where that happens from time to time through exuberance and sheer elation, than one where skulking automatons do exactly as they're bid by an all-powerful media. Oh, and fuck the BBC for getting in over their vinegary tits with this.

Bradford in the semis, please.

Forgot to say that Clark was my MOTM again, what a change in fortune for the lad and seems to really have matured into a good centre half
He's been superb to be honest. I rate him higher than Cahill.

As consistent as Hutton has been, Clark is my player of the season so far. He was immense in both games, only blot was diving in and not getting there just before Berhino played Idaye through and Given came out brilliantly.

Phil McNulty seems to be blocking anyone on Twitter who queries his ludicrous 'dark ages' report. This is someone employed by a publicly funded broadcaster.

Agreed, my hope now is Baker and Clark can really nail those positions down, I like Okore but he seems error prone, I hope he irons that out too.

But it seems to have upset a few who watched on the TV, surely you'd give up years of fan culture if you'd have known it was going to cause a bit of indignation before the X Factor starts? Surely.

After the years of shit home football, it's no wonder the less calm of the parish find themselves on the grass when something remotely exciting happens at Villa Park.  The gnashing is silly.  The commentary was embarrassing too.  Started with Pearce saying how the Albion were SO UNLUCKY in the league game (they were lucky they weren't severely battered) amd ended with how the fans had "really ruined Sherwood's day" of some shit like that.  The BBC LOVED the invasion.  LOVED IT.  More ratings, more interesting for the viewing audience.

For me, I thought the early invasion was a result of the tension being lifted, plus the beer, plus the fact it's a derby. Stupid.  Banning orders justified.  Teeth needn't be gnashed though. The later one was justified.  "Ooh, Villa cup final"... etc etc.  Yes, we're almost in one, thanks.

Totally agree that the semi-final should not be played at Wembley.
Yeah...semi-finals should still be played at Villa Park!

Is the first point mine? I think you missed my point, It's not that the media are anti-Villa but what's the story of the FA Cup quarter-finals. Villa beat West Brom? Bradford draw with Reading? Or people on the pitch? How are you going to get interest from just the football when there were pitch invasions?

The media have blown it out of all proportions to cover a boring Saturday for them.
I have to disagree with you on that peter.  The media cover it because it happened.  If it doesn't happen then the story is Villa win.  We've only got ourselves, or rather a minority of our fans, to blame for that.  The proportionality is a matter of personal opinion; I mean I understand why it's being downplayed on here, I get that, no-one likes to hear negative things said about our club, but that doesn't mean I agree with it.

So you think it was carnage?

Terrible isn't it, won't somebody please think of the children. Worst thing ever seen at a football stadium.

Still sends a shiver down the spine watching that.

He's also not left footed

Baker was surprisingly good at the start of the season tho. Good back up to Clark.

Full backs gave the ball away too often, Okore was poor, we looked edgy, certain players were anonymous. All first half stuff. Yet the second half, every department tightened up, Delph, Sinclair, Okore, Clark, Sanchez were really good, so was Charlie. Great communication from the manager and coaches at half time to get the message across.  We fully deserved to win the game. Now for Sunderland, that said, if we win our home games we will be fine, so anything we collect on the road is a bonus.

Tsk. Someone might have had their delicate little eardrums perforated by that nasty, raucous singing. The brutes, the oiks, the bally roustabouts!

I wonder if infamous ex poster The Gnasher ended his boycott and somehow procured a ticket and bit Delphy as some kind of situationist statement against Doug Ellis.

In any event, the WMP will no doubt have in their custody an imprint of the tooth marks and the culprit will be brought to swift justice by means of scrutiny of dental records and mandible examinations of supporters entering the ground.
