Also - I remember after our Blackburn semi final pitch invasion, Lineker's commentary being all about how it was all good natured and it was just fans enjoying their moment & lovely to see.

I didn't go on the pitch that day because I was worried about the thought of some kind of ban, but after the way our last pitch invasion was received - I was really tempted last night. In fact, if it hadn't been for the early invasion, I probably would have gone on at full time.

I thought there were more on the pitch last night than for the league cup semi, and I wonder how many were influenced by the lack of censure for the last time we did it?

The last time I was on the pitch was in the 80s. It was when we got promoted, and I didn't even think I could get over the fence, but as I started climbing, the lads around me just got me over! I remember an announcement that the players wouldn't come back out till we'd cleared the pitch, and laughing my head off because I was in a crowd carrying Nigel Spink shoulder high!

You can argue those in the north lower ran on for safety as they were being pelted with seats from above.

I did say that I would take Pulis when the other manager was here, so glad we didn't

Man Yanited glory hunting fans run on our pitch every season for 20 odd years it seems and the bbc etc never say a word about it.
Oh and what about that Ronny Radford goal v arsenal which is fa cup golden heritage which yields a jubilant mass invasion.
Hypocrites.

I mentioned the Man Utd cup game yesterday to someone after the game. That kind of thing is easily forgotten.

I don't necessarily have a problem with coming on at the final whistle. A trip to Wembley after so many years of absolute shit is going to cause excitment. Before the final whistle though? Idiotic.

Are you seriously comparing us to Hereford? (And wasn't it against Newcastle?)

To be fair to the Bitters over on www.westbrom.com they seem more bothered about the idiots in the away end throwing the seats.

You could but it wouldn't be true, would it?

The first one as everyone has said was pathetic but the stewarding and policing concentrated at the other end was asking for trouble.

Second half we were great, we upped the tempo and they just could not handle it. Considering the players that were unavailable it was impressive stuff. Early days, I know, but we might just have found ourselves a proper manager.

I'm simply highlighting how the BBC are complete hypocrites.

The first pitch invasion was pissed up lads, which is and was unacceptable, we can't defend that whilst the game is going on

The final whistle invasion is everyone, women kids children, BBC had a young lad pictured must have been 8/9 years old standing on the pitch in his Villa colours doing a victory fist, what they going to do hunt him down and drag him through the courts

Sticking up for the BBC a bit, Lineker got it spot on with his comments after the match I though,

At the end of the day you won't get this at Old Traford, Stamford or Anfield, with their corporate half and half scarf supporting fans, it's a sanitised environment, Villa Park isn't

It could have been worse though, can you imagine if the same game was played at an identical time against Blues, it would have been mayhem, it would probably have been abandoned

Jonas Olsson was on our train back to Euston last night. Top marks to Kingthing for drunkenly trying to sell him a ticket for the West London Lions coach trip to the Swansea game.

And Staunton was drinking in the Sacred Heart before the game.

What a day. It's been many a year since I've enjoyed a home game so much

I'm sure he only means its ok for the BBC to go all bleary eyed over the iconic moment of fans on the pitch but go way over the top on their reporting last night.
It was daft I agree charging on the pitch before the game had finished and if that didn't happen the other moments of fans on the pitch after the game and when Sinclair scored probably would not have been reported.

My main gripe is the BBC reporting on the way they did but it was them who dictated we play the Worlds oldest local derby on a Saturday evening. At one point the camera zoomed on this Villa fan probably in his 50's and he looked so pumped up and so charged up with booze, he looked like he was about to go mental. He had a real look of madness in his eyes.

What did Lineker say after the game?

He said the first pitch invasion was not good for obvious reasons, but the final whistle invasion was mainly high spirits and on that sort of occasion was sort of acceptable
