After that the full pitch invasion at the end is nothing different from what we see every year at various clubs.

How many times have you seen an FA Cup 6th round tie end in a pitch invasion? Aside of the more serious risk of one of the pissed up idiots on the pitch giving an Albion player a slap (or worse) it's embarrassingly small time to get so excited about a game which only means we're through to the next round of a cup competition.

Brendan Batson being very measured about it on R5 now, nice guy, very sensible point of view

Stuart Pearce too. They seem genuinely puzzled by the press over reaction.

I don't get at all how the pundits in all their wisdom, and that moaning cock Pulis, cannot see that Yacob has left one on Bacuna and got that decision spot on.

That happened just below us, everyone around me didnt think it was a foul, let alone a red card.

Yesterday there were 3 things at villa park that I haven't seen altogether for quite a while. A manager with passion, players with passion and a crowd with passion.

I've just watched MOTD and the fans coming on the pitch before the final whistle made me cringe.
You c***s. Indefensible.

Worse than those pinging seats off people's heads or attacking them at Witton Station? I want to hear this more condemnation for this to be honest

That makes it alright then? I don't care what the Albion did; what we we did was in front of the nations cameras. If you think those twats who ran on the pitch with minutes to go are justified for doing that because the away fans were worse, then so be it.
We're Aston Villa. We're better than that.

You extrapolate sir. Running on a pitch vs physical assault? I know what I consider more important.
I think the collective Villa ego is very raw at the moment - the vast majority did not run on the pitch and, like me and yourself I would imagine, voiced their disapproval long and loud.
Next... move on...

great second half, but I'm getting annoyed at all this lambasting of our own fans.

The fans who invaded the pitch early, obviously thought the whistle had gone, there has been so much overreaction to this. It was harmless and only held the game up for less than a minute.

After that the full pitch invasion at the end is nothing different from what we see every year at various clubs.
Couldnt agree more. This is being blown out of all proportion.

Did anyone else find Woodward's announcement of the QPR result at half time utterly cringeworthy?

Those football writers on Sky now discussing it, a lot of talk of the kick off time.

I can understand the pitch invasion after the final whistle, the fans have had absolutely nothing to celebrate since O'Neill's departure. They have had to put up watching dross for the last 5 seasons, as well as a yearly battle to stay in the prem. For a club of our size that is a disgrace.

I think a lot of albion fans were embarrassed at what happened to myself and my daughter tonight. But like you say in a father of the bride speech I have total respect for her not backing down. I wonder if on the strippey filth message boards tonight they will be celebrating how a 54 year old villa fan with a 17 year old girl stood toe to toe with a fair few of their complete arseholes. I don't think even the noses would stoop that low.

Oh yes the would.

Well done for standing your ground. They were singing  'you're still going down' Told them to finish the line '....south to Wembley. .'

Thirded. Not our finest hour which put a damper on things but an overreaction not seen since the Y2K bug.

Perfect whine for the Bitters though " Uz Olbiyun, wor olwayz ard dun bye".

I had a great day. Didn't see any trouble, fantastic atmosphere in ground. N'Zogbia motm for me. Thought their sending off was wrong but who cares really. Big smiles still today. Up the Villa.

Benjamin Zephaniah was in the lower Holte tonight. My nephew got a photo with him, the jammy bollocks.

From around 54 seconds in.

I have to say this brings a tear to my eye when the second goal goes in and you see the celebrations. Reminds me of Highbury, Rotterdam, Old Trafford in 77 and Wembley in 75 and 94

The lot who went on before the final whistle are twats, no doubt. I sincerely hope they are identified, and banned, particularly from buying Wembely tickets.

But, watching the BBC coverage again and Pearce and Lawrenceson's over reaction to the invasion 'after' the the final whistle, their commentary is just totally and utterly ridiculous.
It's fucking twats like this that influence the opinion of the watching public, and speaking in tones as if the queen had died put a much more negative spin on the whole thing than was necessary.
