I also don't understand how on earth fans going on to the pitch is getting far more coverage than the Baggies fans chucking seats and other objects down on the Lower North. I saw one hit a fairly elderly lady who seemed to have injured her wrist. Running onto the pitch though, is far worse.

The negative side of what happened yesterday is that it gives fuel to those who believe that standing areas at football grounds is a bad idea, and I have no doubt that the idiotic behaviour of the minority will be used in evidence against the notion of safe standing. Specifically the pitch invasion whilst players were still on the pitch and before the final whistle will be seen as hooliganism, not exuberance.

Back to the game. We had bad luck in the first two games and good luck in the next two. It was a very lambert performance first half but we've seen two excellent 45 minute performances in a week now. The best in ages.

Given 8 - bacuna 6 okore 7 Clark 7 lowton 5 - cleverley 7 Westwood 6 delph 8 - nzogbia 7 gabby 7 Sinclair 8

Okore, bacuna and both wingers massively improved for the second half

I thought lowton was awful

I thought he had a good game, one bad pass aside. Funny how we all see things differently.

This is from the BBC this morning. They seem to have added the boggie's behaviour into their report.

Sadly, the inevitable happened as the frustrations of Albion's fans at a harsh red card for Claudio Yacob and Villa's second goal from Scott Sinclair manifested itself in casual, mindless vandalism as claret seats were ripped out and hurled on to the pitch and in the direction of home fans housed directly below.
This was the signal for an unsavoury response from Villa supporters, goading their opponents mercilessly before embarking on scenes plucked from the dark days of the '70s and '80s. It was an atmosphere heavy with threat.
There was a mini-invasion before referee Anthony Taylor sounded the final whistle which held up play while stewards attempted to restore order, accompanied by the soundtrack of Villa supporters loudly jeering their own. And as fans congregated on the perimeter before the official conclusion, it was only too obvious this game would not end well. In truth it could not end soon enough once Villa went two-up.
Ground authorities were powerless to stop thousands of Villa supporters pouring on the pitch as referee Taylor headed for cover, not just celebrating with their own players but also surrounding and taunting members of the beaten Albion team.
Pulis understandably called for greater stewarding but it is also hard to judge how many you would actually need to halt that human tide intent on getting on to the pitch.
Many Villa fans were on the pitch in jubilation but this misses the point entirely. This is still an offence and it was clear that the safety of some West Brom players was threatened and compromised.

During both this weeks games there has been long spells when the opposition didn't look like scoring. Second half yesterday Albion created nothing from open play as far as I recall. That bodes well. I can see improvements all over the pitch. Nice to see Delph playing further forward second half.

Anyone see the guy with a dildo on his head at 94:50?

He's bald and has a pink dildo including balls sticking vertically from his head.

I'm afraid to say I was laughing so much when I saw him running onto the pitch

Matt Lowton is the new Ricky Scimeca. Expected to play anywhere any time and slagged off if he makes mistakes. One mistake apart I thought he played his part in a well earned victory.

:)Pitch invasion before final whistle totally unacceptable. Pitch invasion after final whistle no problem for me, would have preferred to see the players take their acclaim however. Absolutely brilliant occasion, loved it, total over reaction by the media. Good to hear some positive comments from Jamie Carragher ( on pitch himself 1985 semi final ), Stan Collymore and Rupert Bell( on the pitch with his 16 year old son last night.

Villa Park is a wonderful place to be on nights like that.

UTV. :)

What an improvement in the second half.

As for those utter fucking idiots legging it on the pitch before full time, I hope they all get banned. Two nil up and cruising into the semi final, a minute to go and you're running on the fucking pitch?

Small time twats.

They belong at the Sty - where their IQ would be more at home.

Well it would likely improve the average IQ at the Sty at the very least
