What a difference a week makes

What a difference a tweak makes.

Lambert's team, Lambert's tactics, just speeded up and dusted with confidence. And to think how long we had to suffer watching him cluelessly get it wrong and try exactly the same thing the following week.
I know, but it really can't be that simple, can it?

What's this talk of Leeds? Don't remember sf s there
1980 replay (West Ham / Everton) - first one I remember.  Then 1995 (Everton / Spurs).
Hardly a bastion of semis then
I don't believe anyone called it a bastion of semis.  I just named it as a place where some had been held.
Bastion of semis - sounds like my sex life

ITV News just reported pitch invasion like we'd annexed North Wales.  Perspective for the final whistle, bans for the 100 odd fools in injury time, & crucifixion for the 2 fuckwits swinging off the crossbar.
Throwing seats 70ft through the air down onto defenceless fans below is far worse than anything our fans did.
Hopefully they are all on cctv and arrested.

Well in 40+ years of going to football I have never come across such complete and utter arseholes as the albion fans were. At Witton station myself and my 17 year old daughter got attacked by albion fans. Luckily my daughter stood her ground with her dad and we put a couple of the bastards down. Even some albion fans had a go at our attackers and said fair play for standing your ground. Think it is safe to say their fans are the biggest bunch of wankers I have ever come across..does it make you wankers feel good to give a 17 year old girl a bruised cheek. ..wankers total wankers.
Sorry to hear that mate and hope she's ok.
I pin much of the blame here on whatever idiots thought 530pm was a good idea

Loads of it going off when I got there and found myself surrounded my utter neanderthals. West Brom fans punching anything that moved, chucking rocks and glass bottles and trying to smash up the cars that had found themselves stuck in the melee.

I've just watched MOTD and the fans coming on the pitch before the final whistle made me cringe.
You ******. Indefensible.

Worse than those pinging seats off people's heads or attacking them at Witton Station? I want to hear this more condemnation for this to be honest

When we were queuing it was tense, but I didn't see any of this. There were a few stand-offs, but it didn't go any further than a bit of shouting and barging.

I think a lot of albion fans were embarrassed at what happened to myself and my daughter tonight. But like you say in a father of the bride speech I have total respect for her not backing down. I wonder if on the strippey filth message boards tonight they will be celebrating how a 54 year old villa fan with a 17 year old girl stood toe to toe with a fair few of their complete arseholes. I don't think even the noses would stoop that low.

The riot police arrived pretty sharpish with dogs, which at least separated their fans, but it was in the minutes before that where it was as bad as anything I've seen since the Madrid riot police took revenge for the Armada in 95.

That might have been just before we arrived then - there were a couple of lines of police trying to keep everyone as separate as possible just as we turned up.

Not that it really did anything, as they were still just filtering the same groups of supporters into the same queue for the New Street train.

Arrival at New Street was daft as well, there was a police cordon segregating people but blindly. I watched three people in West Brom shirts let into the concourse, followed by two of us in Villa colours, following by two more West Brom fans, while half a dozen polite-looking, middle-aged people in both colours were held on the platform.

That makes it alright then? I don't care what the Albion did; what we we did was in front of the nations cameras. If you think those twats who ran on the pitch with minutes to go are justified for doing that because the away fans were worse, then so be it.
We're Aston Villa. We're better than that.

You obviously do. So you don't care about the semi-final being played at Wembley, when it should be at a neutral ground? Odd, considering your initial post.
Far be it from me to intrude on this love-in but Wembley is a neutral ground.  But I'm with you, Villa Park & Elland Road or Hillsborough or Old Trafford.  Just like in days of yore.

It is, but that is not my point. Old Trafford, VP etc etc should be the semi-final venues.
Why?

It doesn't really matter.

If it were at Old Trafford fewer Villa fans would be going to the semi-final. Why would that be a good thing?

Because the subsequent trip to Wembley in the final would have much more meaning. You can't deny that playing the semi finals at Wembley devalues getting there.
Wembley is a fairly big, loud, empty stadium. It's a football match, played on a football pitch.

I'm pretty sure that everyone who goes to the semi-final isn't going to be complaining about going there instead of Old Trafford. And I bet that the 8,000 or so who get to go who wouldn't have gone had it been at any other ground will be delighted that it is being held at Wembey.

We could have done with those 8,000 at times over the past few seasons to be fair.
