Getting to grounds by train/Metro/Tube normally not a problem but as the conman says, its getting away again after.

When possible I run/jog one stop further away and get on. That way I'm sat down when the train/Metro/Tube arrives at the main match station.

eg for Spurs games, I head to Tottenham Hale post-match, rather than Seven Sisters.

This plan might also work at OT but I'm not familiar with the stations

or people could always just go for an afternoon watching football without the need to go drinking as well.

I suppose that having to drive to all games means that I've never associated watching football with drinking. However, watching rugby or baseball is a different matter.

Man U away without drinking? There are sooo many reasons to. Tourists, Brummie Reds, 50/50 scarves, traffic, beer in the ground in Man U glasses (ok that's a reason), obvious Man U fans in the away section usually with kids.

and then there is the annual defeat.

Here's an idea for anyone planning to use the Metro from the city centre. After the game, instead of fighting the crowds to get on at Old Trafford, walk over the bridge, past the Lowry and get on at Media City.

We parked over there today, was back on the m6 within 15 minutes of getting in the car.
Brilliant spot.

The Lowry is a cracking spot to park.

I was there by 9:30 and it still only cost me £7 (after validation)
