Why are WBA referred to as the "bitters" ?

Remember that I'm a glory-hunting interloper who only started following Villa because of the guarantee of trophies and did not grow up immersed in the local rivalries.

They never got over the fact that they weren't quite good enough to win the league (or any other trophy for that matter) when they had a very exciting team under BFR and we did do just that under Saunders playing exciting football. That would be one of the reasons. Oh and the fact that Wolves won the League Cup at the time despite being practically bankrupt.

I am sure there are a multitude of other reasons too but I've got the ball rolling.

Seeing as Clark is one booking away from a two game ban i would not be surprised to see him  left out of this,as having him and Hutton banned from the Sunderland Game would be bad news. I expect cardboord Ron to come in (if fit)

Although their club has a decent history, it's no where near ours which was forged usually at their expense.

Infact in every facet of their existence they've never quite managed to match us.

They know it, we know it and they hate it.  But their naturally sanctimonious 'better than you' nature makes this hard from them to admit this.

 Like Coventry before, the also can't stand the fact that many of our supporters genuinely don't get obsessed about playing them.

I particularly enjoyed watching the guy wearing the flasher mac at the beginning of the Mail video declaring Villa are a championship side, whilst nearly crying and declaring everyone and everything useless. Sorry if already mentioned, but no tickets on general sale, you have to have a client ref / booking history. They don't want away fans in the home end I was told. I understand that, but what if you are a Villa fan and want to go as your first match? They must be confident to sell out.

I suspect that the club would live with a couple of thousand empty seats rather than risk away fans getting in the home section

Yeah, but I could not buy a 2nd seat for a mate. The counter arguement is loss of revenue if there are empty seats...who knows, some of the first timers may spend money in the shop and want to come to another game on the back of Saturday's match.

Even in the Trinity we've had a few issues with away supporters this season, esp Arse, ManU and Chavski. I think there could be murder committed if rogue Stripeys got in so I can see why the club's being so fussy over this one.
