Considering how many left backs Villa have bought over the past couple of seasons, this is not a problem that should have arisen

Gabby?

I'll stick with my prediction of a loss.

That would only be more mental if Guzan was rush goalie as well! ;)

I think Lowton and Sinclair will play as wing backs with Hutton playing as the third centre half.

Sherwood has gone down slightly in my estimation with keeping with Gabby. I guess, much like Benteke, he's hoping for a miraculous turnaround in form to what Gabby is capable of. If he could be remotely bothered, he could be a match winner today.
We'll see. He owes the fans a big performance.

Likewise Benteke does too. The pair of them haven't exactly set records for workrate and determination in recent months. In fact I dare say even Zogbia probably shakes his head disparagingly at some of their abject displays.

That's not a great looking side in my eyes.  Westwood and Cleverley are far too pedestrian, but Sanchez has been shocking for ages now, and Gil is all fart and no shit, so I understand dropping them both.  Lowton is rubbish, so god knows how he's going to do at left back which is presumably where he'll play.  I think we're in for a sound thrashing.

Gil is far from all fart and no shit. He is creative, works pretty hard, and should be starting. Gabby can fuck off.

Hutton might play left back
I would think so to. I think Hutton can better adapt to left back, and Lowton is a good crosser as mentioned before.

But I do not understand why Gil is not playing. He might have been bad last week, but I think he has the skills we have been missing for ages and has been good in the games I have seen. Maybe it is because of counter attacking and then Gil will start on Tuesday at home.

Hutton or Lowton surely to play left back in a 4-3-3 (4-3-2-1) formation.

We'll soon see if Sherwood is seeing something in training that's not being shown on match days with this line up. I'm hoping for a point at 1-1 unless Benteke comes to life.

Is Cissokho injured or dropped? I don't rate him at all but still a strange decision bringing Lowton back from the dark so hopefully Sherwood has seen something in training.

Looks like 442 to me...unless he's pushing Gabby and Sinclair down the wings for 433.

For a team that almost beggars belief in its lack of creativity and goal scoring, calling the guy who scored that goal v Bournemouth and made that assist v Chelsea "all fart and no shit" seems pretty harsh to me

Can't see anything but a defeat here, I'd definitely take a draw. But we probably need to be trying to win games like this and this Newcastle team is definitely beatable
