I don't have a child but if I did and took one to a Villa-Chelsea game only for them to tell me they were now a Chelsea supporter, I think that would be just about as bad as it gets. I think a course of brain washing would be in order. The Bells are Ringing on loop on a low volume while they slept perhaps.

He's not really a football fan is he?  He smacks me as one of these post 1996 bandwagon jumpers who links football with some kind of credibility.

Give him a break.  Politicians get enough shit (maybe rightly so) for their day job.  He has a liking for Villa & makes a few innocuous humorous comments when asked about it.  What's wrong with that?
