My wind has been well and truly taken off my sails after reading this line up. I hope theres injuries to Sinclair, Gil and Gabby, otherwise this is one boring approach to a cup game.

Aston Villa caretaker coach Scott Marshall, speaking to BBC Sport: "It is not an ideal situation by any means with the manager leaving earlier in the week, that has been a disappointment for everyone but now we just try to get into the next round of the FA Cup.

Who picked the team? "All the staff have stepped up and helped out and we have come into an agreement with the team today.

"Tim Sherwood is an enthusiastic guy and I am sure he will be keen to stamp his authority on the team."

Are there any reports of that or is it a guess?
Genuine question, not trying to be smart (usually beyond me anyway)

Regardless of the timing, I'd really have preferred to have Tim in the dug out today. The enthusiasm from Lambert sacking seems to ebbing away quicker than it should've. Still think we'll win this... But reckon we'll have to wait til the second half for some attacking options.

If I were a betting man I'd put money on a dramatic Sherwood appearance in the dug out second half when we are toss for the first.

"I couldn't sit there and do nothing" said the incoming Villa boss as he appeared after half- time to inspire his new charges to victory with a superb second half display from Jack Grealish........

Hopefully!

Fantastic.

The one player who can offer something a bit inspiring injured, a back to the dark ages 442, and not even a proper wide man in there.

Plus ça change.

So lowton is starting AND on the bench. Sherwood must have lots of belief in him.

Word is Gil is injured, so as mauve as that side is, the hand is slightly forced.

You're all going to be shocked at the sudden bursts forward of the revamped Tom 'Fwank Lamps' Cleverley.

Shearer "If this was a league game it would be a nailed on 0-0."

December 2014- Villa 2-1 Leicester
January 2015- Leicester 1-0 Villa.
