John E, I would say that his friends in the game, especially the media game as in pundits and the like, know exactly what he is, the problem being they will believe Sherwood because they are the same sort of toss pot he is. They also have copy to fill and Sherwood was always easy copy, it meant the lazy bastards did not have to do alot of work.

On pundit duties today I see. Spoke well of us. Still got a chance to stay up, just need a few wins in a row, quality in the dressing room. All pretty standard sentiments I know but it strikes me he doesn't jump on opportunities to take the piss and build up his own part in the way you'd think he might.

We played our best football of the season against West Ham; we pressed and passed very well. I agree with Garde when he says a win would change things in the dressing room, not necessarily to escape the drop, but mentality, losing has become almost institutional.

In my opinion it was the first half against Leicester, we played them off the park.

man city first half was much better the wet spam imo

We defended well but we barely crossed the half way line for the entire match.
Leicester first half was our best performance. Played some terrific attacking football, but of course it ended in tears though.

I was thinking about that game when I saw Sherwood doing punditry just now.

Without a doubt the point at which things got significantly worse. Nice one, Tim, that was one of the most brainless substitutions I've ever seen

Judging by what he said about it, it seems as if he still doesn't get how he fucked up. He was blathering on about how we won in every department except the score.

Very good leeg.

I wish I could claim credit for that. I think it is subtle but excellent.

In fairness to Sherwood he spoke very well about us yesterday on sky
he was actually very bias toward us whereas Rednob was the opposite

He Still thinks we can stay up, said we had some real quality in the players we bought once they are bedded in, certainly didn't come over bitter and twisted in fact the opposite and was generally very positive about the club, I suppose the few mill in his back pocket helps, but we say that about everyone

And to quote ' I have never seen support like it when they get behind you '

I've always stuck up for him a bit on here and heard nothing to change my mind yesterday

Sky obviously booked him hoping he'd be only too happy to rehash this season's narrative of our transfer committee/signings not good enough/decisions above the manager's head/etc.

They even set him up a couple of times, particularly right at the end, to get a good vengeful dig in at us, and it's to his credit (or maybe it's a clause in his severance package) that he didn't.

He also looked very anxious when speaking, almost manic at times, and far removed from the smooth talking in the third person bullshit artist of last year. I wish him well.

as you say, though, very much easier to do when you have a few million tucked away.

He also said he would do everything he could to get Gabby fit and playing as he had kept us up over the past five seasons.

I've said it before, he gets far too much abuse. He kept us up last year, gave us a great Cup run and we were all well behind him. He lost the plot in pre-season and was massively found out when the team turned up looking unfit, poorly conditioned and without identity but I think any personal abuse he gets is unfair even if I was relieved when he went. That said, I think the general non-forum dwelling Villa fans have a higher opinion of him in general and didn't want him sacked. Glad he didn't push an agenda on TV last night, fair play to him.

Self preservation is his only thought. He got the squad nowhere near fit for the season. I refused to watch him.
