Why is it too much for Garde?

Why is it too much for Garde?

Do we accept that it is too much for Garde? We were so far down shit creek when he pitched up at Villa Park maybe any manager will take months or longer to turn it around.

My take on the team he inherited is that it was low (understatement) on quality in a few places and seemingly wracked with division. You don't get out of that kind of downward spiral in a few weeks.

By the time Sherwood got the boot, turning our season around would have been akin to making one of those handbrake turn parking manoeuvres in an oil tanker in Gas Street Basin.

Divided dressing room.
Gobshite captain contributing to dressing room players.
Club captain more suited to club mascot.
Unfit players.
No apparent coaching for the more experienced squad members in years.
The more experienced core of the squad. being the most unreliable part of the squad.
Confidence through the floor.

And that's before you start debating whether the players (or how many) are good enough.

Normally an incoming manager in our kind of situation will have to deal with the confidence part and sort out some tactics that suit the squad and coach them.

I'd guess that the dressing room issues and the unreliability of the more experienced players just compound issues where no one trusts anyone either professionally or personally.

Summed up exactly. The rot is deeper than just shit players

IMO we are down no matter who took over - but Garde gives me the impression that he could rebuild this club and get us back

Spot on Denmark, that sums up our issues perfectly at the point Garde came in. Any manager would have struggled and Sherwood can say whatever he likes but he 'managed' us into this position.

The rot is much deeper than Garde, Sherwood and Lambert, we all know that, but what has Garde done since he's been here to suggest he's the man to turn it around either this season or next?
Let's face it he's had zero impact so far.

What do you think he should have done SH?

What is it that gives you that impression Edvard?  I hope he does transform us, but just wondering what it is that makes you think he's the man for the job?

Totally agree. I just don't see him being the type of personality to lead us in a charge for a quick return to the PL. we need someone more charismatic with an understanding of the Championsip.

I don't know. He just doesn't fill me with confidence that's all.

The problems at the club run deeper than Tim Sherwood.  Buts it's pretty clear he wasn't going to be part of the solution.

I find it amazing that so many people I speak to at matches won't have a word said against him.

Like say, Jokanovic at Watford last season? Or Neil at Norwich?

Neither one Mr Charisma, neither one with a single minute of experience in the Championship and both getting their club promoted in less than a season.

I wouldn't have used 'Mr Charisma' about either of the last two managers to turn around a potentially disastrous relegation.

What they did have is integrity, belief in themselves and a steely desire to get things the way they wanted them.

A few weeks is no way to say either way what Garde can achieve, but amid all thdross there have been a few positive signs.
