I do wonder what people want. I mean, people don't want a relegation battle but want to be entertained. Those two don't come together overnight. Short term is to have a few seasons where we're not dicking around the bottom six. Once we actually establish ourselves as a midtable club again we might be in a position to start progressing other facets. Priority number one is survival in any form it takes.

The dull Moyes thing is BS. They were a relegation candidate when he took over and he oversaw a squad that were established in the top 6 and could upset any of the big boys on their day. I would take that over anything I've seen since the MON era.

I remember Moyes having a decent side, with the likes of Baines and Pienaar combining well on the left. Sides with gumption that went to the likes of City and United and gave them plenty of it.

In contrast to MON, he left a very steady ship to Martinez and did the right thing by Everton with regards to the handover. Even got United to spunk a silly amount of cash on Fellaini.....

Turning up our nose at Moyes would be ridiculous.

Pearson is a nonsense suggestion though, Id be on for giving Sherwood more time than bringing in that clown.

A nonsense suggestion? Last nine games of last season in the Premier League his record was  Won 7 Drew 1 Lost I . A clown? I don't think so. That record shows he must have some understanding of the game.A lot more than Sherwood has shown!

What was his record for the first 29 games of the season? Or are the last nine the only ones that matter?

We already have a manger who spouts garbage to the media we dont want another like Pearson

I'd love Martin Laursen to be somewhere in a new set up.

This comes up occassionaly.

No No and thrice no.  He's got the total experience of 6 or 7 months in the Danish 2nd division, which is probably akin to either to 4th division or Conference in old money.

I'm not even sure if he's finished his coaching qualifications.  He seems very happy with his life on Strandvej and appearing as a well informed pundit for Channel 3 over here.

If that's the sole criteria, I've got an out of date carton of yoghurt in the fridge. Give it 2 weeks until after the Swansea game and I'm fairly confident the bacteria cultures will have evolved to show more footballing understanding than Sherwood has over the last 2 months.

Pearson has shown nothing more than a nasty passive-aggressive bullying streak whilst attempting to portray himself as some sort of psuedo-intellectual whilst indulging some truly foul behaviour from his squad.  His only redeeming feature last season came around Christmas time when he realised they were buggered anyway and went all Kevin Keegan at it and got lucky that Jamie Vardy suddenly found some form. I'd have put money on them dropping this year if he (or his son) hadn't got himself sacked.

I feel the same way about him that others do about Alardyce.  A great big f¤¤k off no thanks.

Love the guy. But no way as our manager. No better than TS

Still recall Laursens awesome celebration after scoring the last minute winner at Home to Spurs circa 2008

So it seems that the general consensus is that you don't want Pearson or Moyes or Rodgers. Ive got a suggestion that I made on another forum about four years ago after Houllier left the club. He was still playing at the time but isn't now.

That man is Jamie Carragher.

Something to discuss apart from the obvious ones.

Appointing a young manager who understands the club can work see Swansea with Monk. However, Swansea have set themselves up with a very clear plan that they've been using for years now. If we had that, someone like Laursen hypothetically wouldn't be a bad shout. The fact that we don't have these things means it can't be considered until we do.

Not sure about that. We need a bit of experience.

Great player, greater pundit doesnt equal a great manager. Plus I cant understand what he says so no chance for our foreign contingent!

Someone with experience.

But not premier league experience. (which would reduce the available candidates to a poor pool indeed).
