Fair point. Moyes or Rodgers would both be good appointments. Lets hope sooner than later

I might be on my own here, I am really not interested in Moyes, he's incredibly dull as is his football, He is probably going to get the sack from his current job. I want someone who can entertain us and it's not him imo

I almost want these next 2 games out of the way so we can get on with things ?! :-\

I lknow what you mean. I do want Sherwood to come good, but on the evidence its not happening.

Me too. I would much, much rather he start to get things right than have to look for another manager.

I just have zero belief that he knows how to get things right.

You're not on your own. Moyes is just so obvious and, as you say, dull.

He would probably keep us up, but you would also be puffing-out your cheeks. Probably better than relegation drama but I don't think we should have to choose between that and boredom.

I'm not convinced by Rodgers ability to organise us either defensively or offensively.

To be fair, Everton played pretty decent stuff at times by the end of his reign there - it certainly wasn't all about knocking it up to Fellaini. Not quite sophisticated enough for it to work out at United, but who cares about that at this stage when we're so far off that standard.

I care because we have a very young squad, with that comes a chance to coach them towards what we want them to be.  We therefore need a manager and coaching team who are interested in making the players the best than can be over the medium term as well as getting results in the short term.  I'm not sure I trust Moyes or Rogers to be able to do both.

I'm not against Moyes mainly because he has a solid reputation in the PL. I would hope he would look to return with fire in his belly so to speak aiming to restore his reputation at this level. Spain was never going to be easy for any number of reasons. I prefer Rodgers slightly more but Moyes showed over a number of years he has the ability to build a good if unspectacular squad.

If there is a shape to the team that the players understand, and they play to a plan in the next 2 games, and we get 4 points, then it shows that something has clicked.

If it turns out to be 1 win in 10 he deserves the bullet no question.  I just hope we don't have to pay him 3 yrs worth of salary.

But that's pretty much what he did at Everton.

Let's put it this way. Nobody would be excited at the prospect of Moyes being our new manager.

But we probably wouldn't be approaching Saturday afternoons in a state of abject terror any more.

I get that, but I guess I just don't have much confidence in the board to dig up someone who can both get the short-term results we need and have that coaching know-how. Certainly the Sherwood appointment was profoundly uninspiring at the time, even though I suppose on the whole it was an acceptable hire (so long as we cut our losses right now) because it doesn't seem like too many managers could have energised the team to get those results like he did. As for trying to determine a manager's ability to improve players, it's just an impossible task, because we have no idea when a player improves or regresses if it's down to the player's attitude or whatever the manager/coaching staff did. It seems like some credit can be given to Rodgers for players like Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, and Sturridge getting better, with the opposite applying for his flops.

Not convinced by Rogers at all - spent a fortune on dross and gets beat by Stoke 6-1 and us in the semi-final.  Would love Moyes.  He'd get us organised and top half of table.

I do wonder how much of his confidence took a knock shot after being at Man Utd. He seemed to age overnight and he hasn't exactly pulled up any trees in Spain either. He did sign some decent players whilst he was at Everton though in fairness, the likes of Coleman, Stones and Jagielka especially.
