He is still our manager. He warrants respect till that changes. The stuff on here shows how 'fickle' some are. I'm shocked, I rarely read this site now.

Well thanks for coming back to let us know.

I am generally a patient man, but even I am struggling with him.  He may be afforded some sympathy and more time if he appeared to have a plan and we were making some progress on the pitch (performance wise rather than results) but the setup and tactics for Stoke were beyond a joke - to me that shows a manager that has lost the plot.  3 centre backs at home against a team that were like to to play 1 striker is laughable.

He is on thin ice and he is probably going to fall through it soon.

First rumblings in the papers this morning of him being in trouble, maybe they are the ones without his mates writing for them....

Yep, one is the Sunday Mirror which I ignore but the other is the Telegraph with pretty much the same story. Basically Sherwood has to win one of the two next matches (Chelsea and Swansea) or he's gone. Hope that's true because we'll be very lucky to get one point from those two.

Please don't speak for me when you call him a 'gobshite'.

In that case, when you use the word 'fickle' to describe other posters, please "don't speak for me".

I'd also like to say you don't speak for me when you refer to Sherwood as a "manager".

And so it begins. In two weeks we will be looking for a new manager.

Hopefully they're already looking and lining up rather than waiting for the inevitable.

I was shocked when Tim was appointed our manager and did not think he was suitable for the Villa job on any level but "needs must" I reasoned - was there anyone else available?  It was a gamble by Fox and it worked.  My hunch is (like a lot of fans) the Villa board did not necessarily see Sherwood as the long-term manager of the club but felt honour bound to give him an opportunity this season.  (The other side to that particular coin is that Sherwood wouldn't have signed up to the club without being given a three year contract in the first place, thus we had to give him this opportunity).

Again, I have no idea of what's going on but if Fox is as shrewd as I hope he is, I would imagine that three year contract is riddled with clauses that would allow us to part ways with Sherwood at the earliest opportunity should certain targets not be met.  This might explain the manager's recent demeanour and the various stories now circulating in the press.

Yes, I hope so.  Pure speculation on my part, but I think they will be looking for someone who totally understands the changes we have made behind the scenes and who knows our new players well. It would be easy to link us to Rodgers and  the usual suspects but I have a feeling we might be looking for a manager from France or Germany.

It's what a lot of people predicted . He was the shot in the arm that we needed last season but not enough nous long term I'm really disappointed because  I thought he was a perfect fit in the same way John Gregory was.

The thought of someone like Rodgers coming in and doing a "Swansea" on us sounds just what we need IMO.

I would like to say though, I'm really disappointed that this isn't working out with TS, we will always owe him for keeping that utterly shite side up last season, and I'm fed up with all the name-calling that goes along with seeing him struggle now.

Paul Lambert was shown a great deal of patience by Villa fans, yet he treated us for mugs, week after week, telling us how excellent we were when we barely mustered a shot, let alone goals.

I like TS's honesty, even though I'm struggling to understand some of the recent TV interviews. He's clearly stressed by what's gone on, he clearly cares and he clearly isn't getting help from Ray Wilkins.

I believe the time to change will be in the next 2 weeks, but TS will go with a lot of thanks from me.

It's a strange one because despite the results, I don't think we've been that bad overall. I thought Liverpool was the worst we've played and we managed to score two.
