As a football supporter, you're supposed to be mildly pissed off that there are no games this weekend due to an international break.

As a Villa fan, for several years now, it has been the opposite. It comes as a relief. It does to me, anyway.

What is depressing is that it is already coming as a relief just eight league games into the season.

I'm the opposite. It makes my teeth itch when we're losing at half time and having to wait fifteen minutes to get back to it. There is little more annoying than losing before a two week break.

Reading quotes from Klopp today about wanting his Liverpool to to go full throttle, passion, heart on sleeve, etc tinged me with sadness as it was pretty much what TS said when he took over. It led me to wondering whether, given that his team on their day at least tried to do that last season, the change this season has been unduly influenced by the sideways, backwards mantra of Butch Wilkins. If so, at least we know what Butch actually does now...

I'm suddenly very envious of the 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' this morning......

You mean the same undue influence that took hold when Wilkins was at Chelsea assisting Ancelotti, that caused them to score more league goals in a season than any other team in league history? He's a bizarre person to scapegoat.

I don't think our football this season has lacked attacking endeavour or effort - it's just lacked everything else, such as quality, ruthlessness, organisation, common sense, tactical awareness, etc.

I think the main thing lacking is stability, we've lurched around between systems and styles so fast that even the ones which have shown promise have been thrown aside in a hunt for a miracle.

He really has nothing to lose now by abandoning all semblance of a notion that he can do tactics and just trying to go out there and have a go, like they did last season. It was fun then. That's all he has left, is the hope of getting that energy and atmosphere back around the club that made us think that he could be he answer after all for a few short brilliant weeks.

If he's going he may as well go down with guns blazing, not with this weird tinkering, that is all just odd.

.......although it might not be the best idea to start that against Chelsea.

I don't think it would work now, though. With Benteke up front, it was easy. Just get the ball to him, and either he'll do the business or he'll create space for others, because the opposition are so terrified of him. But to get results with lesser players - especially new ones from abroad - you need to organise them.

It's quite unusual for the majority of fans to lose faith so quickly. It's probably because there were serious questions about him when he joined, but he is certainly losing the masses very quickly. He does give the impression of someone who has absolutely no coherant clue as to what to do with his team.

It has been incredibly depressing watching Villa over the last few years. We have become a complete joke and it doesn't seem to matter who we appoint the spiral down continues.

I'm at the point where we either need to appoint someone well respected, who can come in and take charge and sort this mess of a club out or just fuck off and get relegated because it's pointless it continuing as we have been employing clowns and the erosion of our name and prestige.

I look at the managers in the division now

Man City - Pellegrini
Man Utd - Van Gaal
Arsenal - Wenger
Liverpool - Klopp
Everton - Martinez
Spurs - Pocchetino
Chelsea - Mourinho
Palace - Pardew
Stoke - Hughes
West Ham - Bilic
Newcastle - McLaren
Leicester - Ranieri
Southampton - Koeman
Swansea - Monk
West Brom - Pulis
Watford - Flores
Norwich - Haven't a clue
Bournemouth - Howe
Sunderland - Fat Sam
Us - A twat

The standard is pretty high now. They've either won trophies here or abroard, have a lot of experience in this division or have been brought up in the club they manage. There are the exceptions, the newly promoted clubs, apart from that, we have I'd argue, the worst manager of the bunch.

Me too. Klopp says the Liverpool job is the biggest challenge in world football. You can tell he hasn't been to Villa Park.

Norwich - Haven't a clue

Alex Neil looks a very decent manager. Norwich play some good football now with a largely average team.

Sounds like Lambore.
