Thing is that how long will people peddle the "he's inherited a mess, so lets give him a chance to sort it out" line?

How long did some of us cling to the belief that Lambert would turn things around before they finally saw him for what he was?

Sherwood has credit in the bank for keeping us up last season but the fact remains that, ever since the Southampton debacle, we have one league win in seven games, and that was a rather fortunate win at Bournemouth.  Lose on Tuesday, and Sherwood will be perilously close to the point of no return.

Isn't people writing off Sherwood after an iffy start and posting guff like 'point of no return' the same thing we accuse the fickle Albion fans of doing? How about a little bit of patience?

Yes, but after 5 years of a seemingly endless cycle of shit, then it's understandable that patience might be wearing a little thin.

You can spin that and say that after 5 years of shit, it's going to take more than a few months and one transfer window to turn this club around considering the mess we've been in for so long.

Obviously Sherwood is ambitious to do well and establish himself as a top flight manager. That means Villa need to do well too and i believe he is really trying to do it, unlike his predecessors who came across as shoulder shruggers. I hope he sorts it out soon.

Its really just being reactive to what's going on. The here and now. Call it what you like but a few more points would have left me and majority of others harbouring some optimism. However the throw away of points by errors and that  -against palace, Sunderland, and Leicester. As well as the poor show v west brom and a struggle against notts county has left us wondering not only about home form but general improvement. In the past recent seasons in adversity villa have turned fortunes and a win at anfield would mean such. However there's growing despair especially with the blues cup tie that the season is to be a struggle. There's actually belief , misjudged or not, that this shouldn't be a season of struggle Tim even claims that. Lets see how week goes with the two games.

Yep, plus the back end of last season, plus some of the misgivings after his time as Spurs. I think he's full of shit, to tell the truth.

That's my issue with him, he comes across as a bullshitter. A chancer.

Yet, for all that confidence he has in himself, we repeatedly see a tactical shambles on the pitch.

When he came here, Spurs fans were vocally pointing out his total lack of tactical nous and refusal to consider he might be wrong. Like how when MON went to Sunderland villa fans were pointing out his problems.

And just like we were right, it looks like they were right about Sherwood

Last week's refusal to concede he got it wrong when a blind man on a galloping horse could spot how he fucked it up just said it all.

Someone said he's learning his trade. Maybe that's true, but if he is, he shouldn't be in the job, frankly. I don't want a YTS manager after five years of shit, I want one who knows what he's doing.

I don't like him as a bloke, and I think he is way out of his depth.

I'd be interested to know how he plans to suddenly develop tactical acumen. Is that the sort of thing you can learn in a few weeks?

Maybe he's intending to 'do a Neo from the Matrix' and suddenly turn into some sort of invincible genius.

In a way, he did. He certainly had to work within a dreadful wage bill situation that started becoming a problem several years and two managers before.

I wonder what Wilkins thinks when he sees Tim preparing one of his tactical catastrophes?

I think he did. His remit was to reduce the wage bill and put a halt to the astronomical (relatively) payments put into place by MO'N. Spits.

He had to sort out problems without a doubt, but not the sheer negativity and defeatist attitude around the club. I'm not saying Sherwood is the one to fix it as there are certainly question marks as to whether he is the person to do it, but I think we have to accept it's a massive task that's unlikely to be fixed quickly.
