I don't think he does i.e., hence the comments about his ego hindering his education. All the talk about getting in a big time striker and the Adebeyor saga are a distraction from our core problem which is stupid mistakes late in games costing soft goals and thrown away points. Sherwood's ego will deflate as the dead cats hit him and he will be a better manager for it. If the player errors are due to player competence, drop the player. If it is due to player fatigue look at your training regime and plan substitutions accordingly.

he's alright is Sherwood
yep he's made some basic errors, they all do

his side is attacking and entertaining, (apart from the howlers) he's been very adventurous in the transfer market and bought some decent players in

he was gutted yesterday as much as we were, he wasn't trying to bullshit his way over it, he could hardly speak, none of the 'we were excellent' crap we had from Lambert, even if we were in the first hour he didn't soft soap it, said it didn't matter we lost and that was it

I still like him, think he will be good for us long term, we just need a bit of luck to go our way every now and then

The reason we are being linked again with Adebayor is that he is as bat shit crazy as our manager.
The fact that he is still defending his decisions from yesterday proves the point.
If he can not see how his decisions cost us the game then he needs some serious help.

We had 10 points at this point last year. I wouldn't trade places for love nor money.

Totally agree with all that. We played some reallly good stuff in the first half and I honestly think he'll turn us into a very decent side given time.

Which we've been hearing constantly for 5 years now. The support need some jam today, not jam tomorrow every season. I can't be bothered to look it up but I wouldn't be surprised if collectively we're not far from having the worst league record from Mcleish taking over to today.

We've been shit for 5 years though, which is precisely why we need time to rebuild.

It's not really fair to get impatient with Sherwood because his predecessor spent three years going nowhere.

No one's getting impatient with Sherwood yet, but the club can't keep churning out these 3 yr plans, 5 yr plans, 10 yr plans and just expect every to sit on their hands and see what happens, again. I for one am sick of being shit, I'm sick of being 16th or 17th and worrying about going down, I'm sick of throwing points down the shitter, I'm sick of individual mistakes week in week out, I'm sick of expecting us to lose games we are winning.

I want the club to have plans, for the first time in god knows how long we partially look like we know what we are doing off the field, but I also expect the club to rectify situations and fast when it looks like things aren't going the way we planned. We cannot afford to give anyone the kind of leeway that Lambert had, with his piss taking results and anti football and it was left to drift at least 18 months longer than it needed to.

I've seen us fall behind Stoke, Swansea and Southampton the last few years through complacency and now it looks like Palace and Leicester are having a go at cementing themselves in the division. Absolute two bob fucking nothing clubs. We never should be in the position where we are employing managers with virtually no experience of top league football and we've done it three times in a row now. I just don't understand why we keep taking all these chances, we are seriously tempting fate for a 6th year in a row.

Rant over, I'm still pissed off about yesterday ruining another Sunday.

Brother, I share your pain, but I think we are sorting it out. Just may take a bit longer than we'd like.

Under no circumstances should Lambert be used as a benchmark for measuring our managers.

Lambert's greatest attribute was not being McLeish. Sherwood's greatest attribute..?

Let's face facts, we have a manager with next to no management experience. It's a simple case of waiting to see if he sinks or swims. If he swims, great. If he doesn't, don't be surprised. I think we'll know by Christmas.

The Leicester game yesterday showed us the best and worse of Villa under TS...the first hour was reminiscent of the fantastic football we started playing that culminated in the FA Cup SF...the last half hour reminded me of the grim performances against Southampton and Arsenal. There was genuine delight on the faces of Villa fans yesterday that we were playing brilliant football and the team were coming together...then those happy smily faces turned into shock and horror at the capitulation and a stark reminder to those dark days at the end of last season.

It was pointed out last season that this all action high tempo midfield was the reason for the slump in form due to fitness...are we still going to trot out a lack of preseason fitness as the excuse for this season? They are pretty much a completely different set of players so I dont like to compare or roll over results from last season, but there are unmistakeable parallels that can be drawn when it comes to an apparent lack of fitness, mistakes that cost us points and a failure to close games out.

So do you know what superstar manager is going come here and bring in a side which instantly start getting consistent results out of a team that have been bottom half for 5 years?

At some point someone has to re-build, which isn't the same as instant results, and whilst there have been some serious frustrations in the past few weeks, I am also seeing significant signs that Sherwood can achieve a re-build. We were really good for nearly an hour yesterday, and have been in a number of our early season games. Much better actually than I thought we'd be by now.

The things that need to change look fairly obvious and easy - concentration/complacency in the later stages & substitutions that go for wins when we are losing and shore up when we are winning. That is far less complicated than trying to get a team to look like they know how to pass to each other, let alone in a generally forward direction, which is what we had before he arrived. I think we have taken massive steps forward. We are 5 games in, and this almost completely new team has already played some great football which has actually been fun and interesting to watch.

Giving the last guy 3 years is not a reason to only give this one 3 months.
