Let's get dope testing for posters.

Sanchez at centre back... That is very scary

Hasn't he put in a shift there before for us?

Although I might be imagining it.
At Sunderland. He dropped into centre back after coming on for Ciaran Clark.

How did he do? My memory has gone completely blank. I can't even remember the score.

We won 4-0, not sure Sunderland even mounted an attack they were so bad!

I've noticed that at times, Delph drops back to make it a back 5 when we are facing an attack. Not all the time, but he does do it. When he does it seems to work.

I'm not sure I've seen that. We always seem to have a pretty high line straight back four to me

I imagine that's Delph tracking a midfield runner rather than actually setting up a back 3.

Ramsey signed 3 year contract at QPR. Shame.

I was very much against us appointing TS, I thought it was a mistake.

Not the firing of Lambert, that should have come on any number of previous occasions, but to go or a rookie like Sherwood was a dumb decision - or so I thought.

Fact is, he's done a remarkable job, a job that only those of us who follow the Club and know what a total mess we were in can really quantify the improvement. Look at our improvement in the goals scored department, look at the improvement of individuals, the emergence of Grealish, our playing style , the way the crowds have flocked back etc.

Personally, I don't  think TS has had anywhere near the credit from the national media for the turnaround. We were in a mess of Billy McNeillesque proportions.

I was wrong and it's great. Well done Tim.

I think the majority of outsiders didn't realise how desperate the situation was.  The likes of McInally and rent a gob Adrian Durham keep saying we would have stayed up under Lambert.  I honestly don't think we'd have picked up another win had he stayed.  After that game at Hull, there seemed no hope at all.

Agreed - desperate stuff.
If people are saying that PL would have kept us up, refer them to the Barcodes and their downward trajectory: we had the same southbound momentum..

There are some really good points in here. After that Hull game I really thought we were done for. Didn't think the players were up to it. I wasn't sure about Sherwood when we we appointed him, but he has proved spectacularly to have been the correct appointment.

As for Newcastle, it's also worth mentioning that when they beat us they were well out of it. It's only because of a truly cataclysmic implosion, in which they've picked up one point from thirty, that they find themselves where they are. Sherwood had nowhere near that margin of error to play with. Effectively, he was sink or swim. Fortunately, he performed like an Olympian.

Yes, and about a dozen less points.

We were dead and buried before Sherwood came in. He's done an excellent job.

Thinking about that Hull game, theres an argument to be made that winning that one probably would've relegated us.

Definitely. And that Hull would have stayed up if they'd lost it. We revived with a new manager, then thrashed Sunderland, which led to them changing their manager and stopping their awful run as well.

What ever happens now I think all Villa fans will be eternally grateful for what he has achieved.

We were gone.

Thanks Tim
