I'm more concerned with Sherwood's tactics than I am with Vlaar.

Well if that's the case you should go to the Sherwood threa - oh.

Rarely can a player's importance to a side have drifted so much in a single season.

It feels as though losing him in the summer would have been a nightmare scenario. Now, and despite the season we have had, we'll hardly notice he's gone.

Spot on.

Fit and on form a very decent centre half. But it is position that you need consistency and ideally a pairing that can play most games together.
We can not rely on him to do that. If he could give us say 30+ league appearances in a row I would happily build the defence around him for the time being because he does have a bit of nous that none of our other centre halves have.

Okore and a fit Vlaar pairing would be pretty solid.

Same. On that, I didn't think they were that bad the other day. If we'd pressed like we did against the Baggies we'd have given Swansea less time on the ball. Trouble was, Zog didn't seem interested in doing that.

I was thinking that during the game. We didn't close them down like we did the stripeyfilth. It was kind of disappointing.

Think I posted pretty much the same on the Swansea post-match thread...why didn't we press them more and higher? Am I right in thinking Sherwood implied as much in his pre-match interview or did I dream it?

I think that's why he brought Zog off for Westwood: more solid midfield presence, more pressing. Sadly, Westwood then proceeded to play impressively badly, which Sherwood can't exactly help.

However ... And there is always however! Stripey Filths shit team Swansea very good team.
However (again) I think Monk did him tactically on Saturday by removing Shevey and Sigurdsson and bringing on Montero and Dyer. Very brave!

Swansea are considerably better than the Bitters, true, and their midfielders actually move off the ball and - shock horror - pass the ball to each other, whereas Pulis' midfielders are always like Ronnie Corbett in that sketch with Barker and Cleese: 'I get a terrible pain in the back of my neck...'

They've also got pace in their side. Something we didn't really have to encounter against West Brom and Sunderland much. Something particularly that Bacuna struggled to deal with defensively.

I was gutted we didn't win last night, a point wasn't enough but then, it looked like we'd get nothing at all at one stage.

Quite a few are slagging TS for various things and yet I imagined that game under Paul Lambert. We wouldn't have scored 3 for a start, we wouldn't have had numerous attacks, shots and chances. We would have had little or no excitement and to be honest, we'd probably already be down by now.

When we had our 3 game winning spell, many people mentioned the back-room staff and the important roles they would have all played in those victories. Well, that's the same back-room staff who were involved during Swansea, Man U and last night. So before he's called a "chancer" again, maybe we can look at Robson, MacDonald and co too?

TS has taken the keys to an Aston Martin. The trouble is he can't adjust the wing mirror or the driving seat until the summer.

Two of the tyres are illegal and the engine keeps cutting out as the two previous owners treated it so badly.

If he can just get it through to the Premier League garage in May I look forward to seeing how he drives it next season.

...and I love seeing him celebrate our goals.

My concern is the players that he is going to bring in. Adebayor and Townsend are surely nailed on, just as it was inevitable that O'Neill would sign Heskey and Lambert would sign Holt at some point.

It could be completely unfounded, but I don't see him being the type to go and find a Benteke in the Jupiler League or the next Okore in the Superliga.

Adebayor and Townsend would be improvements on what we have and we've already got Benteke's and Okore on contract. IF we can stay up I'm confident we won't be in this position again this time next year........, surely.

There's no doubt he's still learning as a manager and will make, or is making, some mistakes. We've taken 7 points from 7 games since he came, we'd taken 3 from 10 before he arrived. We've scored 11 in those 7, before that it was 12 in 25.

I have a lot more faith we'll stay up with him as manager than if Lambert was still here.

Oh, well we don't need to bother signing players like them ever again then.
