If he does the business, he'll be here long term. And he'll deserve to be. We've had experienced managers the past few seasons. What did McLeish bring, or Houllier or Lambert do or bring that is so much better than Sherwood?

There's not much point looking at it that way.

But if you ask that question, Houllier brought significantly more experience, as did the other two, and in any case, Sherwood has only been in the job for four games. It is way too early to make any sort of a judgement on him, positive or negative.

Don't disagree. My point is experience doesn't guarantee anything at all, and certainly doesn't guarantee success any more than experience guarantees failure. Sometime naivety is better than conservatism which you could level at Lambery in year one. What is true and always will be is that Sherwood will be judged on his performance. You would hope that he can't do much worse than the last blokes. Not a high bar I grant you.

I don't think it's to early to say he's had a positive affect on the team and the way we play
Stoke was dreadful, I think even Sherwood was shocked at just how bad we were, but there has been steady improvement since

I think you are correct to say we can't judge him as a manager on any long term basis, he may well come unstuck,
but for now it's far more positive, we were going down with Lambert, we have a bit of hope now

Well I really hope he's here for a very long time to come, even if a new owner comes in. Actually even if we have a new owner as that would mean he's doing a damn fine job.

So do I, as that will mean that we would have had no cause to sack him.

I'm sold - we are playing like the Villa teams we expect - fast and incisive with pace. I genuinely think he is grateful of the opportunity Villa have given him and is grasping it with both hands.

I was a fool to support lambert for so long and a double fool to doubt Sherwoods appointment.

Well done Tim.

Did Lambert ever win three games in a row?

No - late January under Houllier was the last time before today.

Thumbs up.

It's amazing how much football is played in the mind.

I know Sunderland were awful but if you'd watched us for the first time this season today you'd never believed that 11 had broken records for all sorts of terrible goalscoring runs this season.

So I think Sherwood deserves big credit for getting it into the players that they are good players and being more positive they can score goals.

And with Swansea at VP we have a really good chance of making it 4 straight. Literally unimaginable just a month ago.
