I'm still having to stop and pinch myself that Tim Sherwood is managing our football team. And not in a good way.

I wasnt overly impressed with honest Tim in the after match interviews. Really fear he is another Phil Brown but even Phil Brown was able to get his side playing well for a time. Huge week ahead on the training ground. Gabby and Benteke playing up top in a two simply has to stop. Maybe Grealish to come in with Sinclair either side of Benteke with a solid midfield three behind them.

My worry is he is a bit of a clown to be brutally honest.

Why because he said it was an awful football match? Because he said he was bitterly disappointed? Because he said we need to improve very quickly, play with confidence and take better control of the game?

Would you have rather heard we were excellent and that the effort was there?

I, for one, am sick of the bullshit managers spew and I'm glad Sherwood had the balls to say that game was a disaster. Someone's has got to get into these thick-skulled millionaires and get them to perform at a much higher level. Keep on going Timmy.

I don't think anybody is disputing Timothy Sherwood talks a good game and is very comfortable in front of the cameras.

There seems to be an assumption that what a manager says to the cameras is exactly the same as what he says to the players. This is obviously not true. Ferguson has actually talked about how untrue this is - after a loss, to the press he'd go off about the referee, to the players he'd go off about their performances. Even though Lambert said 'excellent' every bloody match, who knows what he said to the players? Maybe he shouted at them every week, and maye that's the reason for their lack of confidence.

Who knows - I don't really think that last bit is true - but I actually don't want to hear Sherwood being honest to me. I'd much rather he presented a united front to the cameras and kept it all in-house with the team.

Started fact-checking my mainest man, Timbo, as I often think he's talking complete bollocks. Parts one and two here. Tongue mildly in cheek for most of it. The brunt of it has probably been covered already, trying to keep up to date.

what's the point in all of this? I suppose Wenger, Mourinho and Van Gaal are 100% accurate in everything they have said or continue to say?

You can be sure Sherwood is hurting.   I expect a very different approach to the Newcastle game.

My worry is he that he isn't going to be given much of a chance having read a lot of the comments on here. If we go down it won't be his fault as far as I am concerned so I am hoping, praying, his no nonsense straight talking might get a positive reaction from the players.

The narrative does seem to have changed over the last couple of weeks from "anybody could keep this squad of players in the league" to "well, if we do go down then it's not going to be Sherwood's fault".

It's worrying that it seems that even lots of the people in favour of him being our manager appear to think that he's not going to be capable of keeping us up.

Well I certainly didn't say he can't keep us up. But if he can't change our fortunes in the time he has then, for me, it's the club owner who is culpable. It was screaming out for a change to be made pre Xmas.

Me too Brian.  His main tasks are to tighten us up a little defensively, find a combination that functions in the final third and find someone who can take set pieces.

I'm largely ambivalent towards Sherwood.  I'm glad Lambert has gone and almost anybody would have been an improvement, but it's a big job for anybody to get consistent performances out of that team.  I think Sherwood has a better chance of keeping us up than Lambert, but it's clearly not going to be easy.  I'll also give him more than one league game to make an impact.

Do we have a midfield and forward coach if so it's about time they earned their money. Sherwood wasn't my preffered option but to put the knife in after one game is stupid.
