To be honest if he gets us attacking again that'd be nice. You could notice Benteke's confidence coming back in the second. His finish for the disallowed goal and his ball over the top for Sinclair were class.

Watched the press interview. OK he was really good. Definitely didnt wave away the chance of relegation, took it very seriously.

Completely dismissed the idea that he was working under limitations "Every club in the world is up for sale at the right price. I don't worry about that. We just need to win football matches."

Very good.

And refreshingly in direct comparison to Lambert who used it as an excuse. In a "you lot don't how hard it is behind the scenes" kind of way.

I thought it was the single blandest press conference I've ever seen. Not that that's a bad thing, but he couldn't have said anything more obvious or non-committal. In fact, maybe it's a good thing given his previous for airing dirty laundry.

You're stuck in the mud negativity about Sherwood, has shocked me.
I honestly can't see the same person writing this stuff as the same person I enjoy reading so much of in Off Topic.

Well I went a bit over the top when the appointment was happening, I was hungover and in a bad mood anyway so vented a bit (and foolishly, some of it). However, I'm not that impressed by the appointment, I think it might have a galvanising effect in the short-term but will be very surprised if it works out long-term, and am a little baffled at some of the positive comments on here, which seem so far to be based on nothing tangible.

The press conference is a great example. What did he say? He made a quip with for press about the 'supply teacher' comment from way back, mentioned his confidence in our staying up, said that he thought we could use with playing more positively (which is a truism on a par with a statement like 'up is not down' these days), not revealed who he might bring in to the backroom staff (which is proper), and said something vaguely sensible but also a little fact-ignoring about the sale of the club.

Honestly, it was an extremely standard press conference, the only notable feature of which was his half-revealing a change of club strategy next season, which is a nice thought (though nothing strictly to do with him), and yet we have posters I respect as much as ciggiesnbeer and TV praising the blandness above. Why do I have to like an appointment when, in my view, I've not yet seen much to suggest I should?

I watched the club site version and was asked what he had said. The best I could come up with was "pretty much the same as the last three."

Odd, what else could he have said without making some outlandish claim?  Were you expecting, a St Crispin's Day Speech?

I was more reacting to the general praise for it. It was an incredibly normal press conference in which he said practically nothing, which I happen to like by and large. It's just a little strange, some things people are finding in him to praise him for. I don't really understand it, and I suppose I don't have to. I hope I'm wrong.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I'm delighted that it was as bland as it was. Considering his propensity for making himself look like a prick when being interviewed while at Spurs, maybe it means he's learning. And if he can learn about that, maybe he can also learn about other more important stuff as well.

And as you know, I am as underwhelmed as it is possible to be by this appointment.
